NOS or Motor Build

I was told the titanium valves could not take the nos, but i see where others have it installed. Are there any bad after effects of the dry system 20 or 30 shot? Will it damage the motor or make it weak?

Shoot Goldenchild a PM and he will guide you in the ways of the Jedi!

NOS vs an engine build is a more complicated question than just the ti valves. What power do you want? Or what speed or 1/4 times are you looking for? Do you have a budget in mind? Nitrous can be added for less than $1000 for a wet system. I have had turbos, nitrous, stroker cranks, wet shots, dry shots etc so hopefully I can help some

A full engine build's labor alone will be over $1000. Give us some more info and we can help more.

I want to get to around 230hp and still be good to ride the street. No specific quarter times, just want the engine to last as a stock one would. The budget i'm looking to do this is about 3 or 4 grand. i now have the brocks alien head, power commander, pingel electric shifter, 17 and 45 sprockets, lowered and stretched.

I have heard that a dry system is hard on a motor....Just had a buddy that blew his motor in is 07 GSXR 1K from using a DRY NOS system, and I believe it was only a 40 shot...

Putting a big bore kit in my 1K was about $6,100.00...You can check out lee's preformance or KWS motorsports for their engine packages. They do everything from just Cams, pipes and PC's to the full blown all out big bores....At least it'll give you an idea of a motor build and what you want...

Lee's preformance
KWS motorsports

KWS motorsports has a ad in the 2 wheel tuner mag 240hp for 5k and when i called and told him i had the first step of three already complete he still told me i would have to pay five grand to get the job done. The first step was pipe and power commander. How is Lees performane?

Nitrous is like coke. You try a little bit and its great. You try a little more an its even better. Before you know it bad things happen. If you can keep it to a 30 shot (preferably wet) the ti valves and light springs should give you a couple of seasons before you need to tear the motor down. That should give you a reasonably reliable 225 HP for less than $1K. Anything more than that, I would recomend that you pull the head and swap out the valves and springs. To do that and do a cursory clean up of the heads w/ valve job is another $1.1K Stock pistons should be able to handle a wet 50 shot easily. Anything more than that requires good pistons. I will be installing a 30 shot on my 08 as soon as I get my first 1.45 short time.

I would and have trusted Lees performance and KWS for several motor builds each. They were all good engines with good power etc.

Take your pick

I vote motor build cause you get extra hp with every twist of the wrist instead of having to push a button.

stronger valve springs are needed.

wee
not for small shots of nitrous ive seen 100 shot dry going on 2 years now with just a stock motor and a fast enricher no power commander and still going
Not on an 08 with titanium valves...
what does titanium valves have anything to do with nitrous they have been running titanium valves in some of the biggest nitrous breathing cars forever

The tune is the most important no matter which you do...find a REAL TUNER near you and get some ideas together...

Nitrous motors need plenty of valve spring pressure. This helps prevent mini backfires and misfires from throwing the valve down into the piston, disloging the keepers and putting nice little holes through the top of the pistons. I've run spring pressures as high as 75 lbs on N20 motors. Ti is strong, but very flexible and not very wear resistant. I don't believe they can run anything close to those spring pressures for any length of time. People do a lot of things that work for short periods of time.
