Not sure about this one...

This is an older Busa video, but what catches my attention is how quickly he pins the speedo...

Whats your take on this? ???

Yeah, like I said it's an older one and I've seen it before, but there's just something weird about the clip that I can't put my finger on... Something doesn't seem right...

For instance, at the end of the video theres a passing car on the other side of the road and something doesn't feel "220 mph" about it... Kinda slower... While I've never been that fast, something still seems off to me... And even more off than the expected speedo error percentage...

?????????

Maybe it's just me on this one... :poke:

Just read thread i attached.
Some posters seem to know him and others say he just didnt recal his speedo or whatever.
Still an open discussion but yes it doesnt seem right .

Thanks Blanca! :thumbsup:I actually just finished reading it... :beerchug:

I'm thinking he was doing 160 MAX and had the 220 gauges but never healed the speedo... Hell, maybe he just changed the decals as they weren't stock obviously... That with the speedo error percentage starts to make better sense...

Besides, I'm really only gonna believe a GPS or a track time slip...

Glad to hear it's not just me... Thought I was going crazy for a minute there.. Thanks again!

One more thing? Anyone ever come down from a wheelie at 140mph? ??? Just curious...

I've seen ghostrider do it, but he's nuts... Wondering if any real people on the org have... I haven't and don't plan to either, lol...

Not in a very very long time and not on anything modern.

I've seen over 155 by the speedo(gen2 and not corrected) so maybe close to it. A few times from 3rd, 4th shift already up. Of course the bottom of the wheel had gone down to only about a foot off the ground, and was fallin fast. It starts to get hard to keep a 10 oclock wheelie much over a 100mph(for me anyway, I've seen a few crazies carry em upright alot faster) the wind really gets ya.

Nice! Not modern huh? What was it?

I can only imagine... Call me a chicken, but the thought of losing it during a wheelie of that speed keeps me from even wanting to try... Thanks for your input! :beerchug:

I've done this quite a few times on several liter bikes in the last 10 years, but again, thats uncorrected speedos. As for you bein chicken, I'de say not. As much as I ride wheelies, they usually don't go past 100(again, uncorrected). The stupid fast ones are just that, stupid, but the wheelie is just right and I havta see how long I can hold it. Age is slowin me down:laugh: I have no plans for any of those this year, but we'll see.

Vega growing up in TN ages 13-15 I had an 85 Rz350 that would do a bit past 130 or so .
I wheelied that thing like crazy .
At the time my hero was a guy named Doug Domokos 'The Wheelie King'
I started wheelieing (spelling?) bikes when I was like seven or so when i got a Kdx80.

Up to about 16 I could and Would wheelie anything , anything .
I used to wheelie my brothers kz1000 as well as his friends gs1000s .

I have though flipped more bikes and times than I can remember .
Pavement isn't any harder just that at forty I have turned scared if you wanna say.

Pulling gravel from my back and hearing me scream is somethin I put my parents thru but def don't want to put my kids thru !

Whether I hit 140 on the back wheel I don't know but I have set it down past 100 and heardthe tire screech enough to know I don't wanna do it anymore .

Search on YouTube 'hayabusa wheelies' you will see guys doing some stuff even I can't believe .
Some of the 'stunts' done on bikes now make simple fast wheelies look like sissy play if you ask me .
Incredible what they can do .

I think this is the one ?

I grew up riding power wheelies .
On the power at about a 45 degree angle pulling hard all the way .
Nowadays it seems they are based more on balance and they wheelie to a much higher angle than we were ever comfy with .

Thanks for that... I always try to ride a safe a possible... No reason to increase the risk on an already dangerous thing... :beerchug:

Didn't the wheelie king have a extra little motor to keep his front wheel spinning for balance? Or maybe it was someone else, I might be confused... ???

I wheelie all day on my dirt bikes, but the thought of road rash scares the crap out of me... I can't even imagine...

Nice clip btw, those we're some pretty good wheelies, though again, I've seen guys go down while fooling around on the freeway... Not good... Not worth it... Just my 2 cents...

So how easy does the busa come down from a wheelie? (I've never had my front wheel up on my busa but a couple inches on a fast acceleration...)

Front wheel sets down fine, like any other bike. Unless the wind has gotten you and the bike is already shaking, you can barely tell. Strange that you rarely hear the tire screech or see the puff of smoke on the bike you're on, it's much easier to hear(and obviously see) on a bike next to you. The smoke and screech is kinda cool, like a plane landing:laugh: although it depends on the speed and type of pavement whether it does it or not.
If you wheelie dirtbikes, and have street gear, wheelie away. The Busa wheelies quite easy, and it's extra weight gives it a more stable feel than 1000s. It moves around a little slower in the air, feels less likely to loop or fall to either side.
And Blanca, the higher the angle of the wheelie, usually makes it easier to balance.

Agreed but as stated growing up we never really 'balanced' anything.
It was always on the power that was holding bike up.
I never really felt comfy 'balancing' anything.

I never stood up on pegs either like they do know.

We rode them thru the gears and set it down when the power would no longer hold it up.

Thats cool, and standing on the pegs makes it even easier to do, most folks agree. Standing you can still get more weight up high, and it's harder to loop a wheelie than when sitting and your weight is lower. I do them both, but standing is more fun.
You might be suprised what Blanca can do with some of your old skills:beerchug:

Hmmm... I might try for a foot off the ground next time:whistle: Gotta take it slow...

Thanks for the advice guys!:beerchug:
