Got a Garmin Nuvi for christmas, finally got around to installing it.
Not the most high tech of mounting solutions, but cheap, clean, and effective.
In january I wired the battery to a car socket, and the car plug up through and under the tank.
Tonight I bought a 1/2 inch dowel from home depot, and cut it about two inches short of going all the way through the tube. Then I drilled a pilot through the car mount and the dowel. 2" long wood screw down the middle, then I wrapped it one layer thick of electrical tape, and plugged the hole.
Haven't ridden and used it yet, but it looks like a good spot when i'm sitting on the bike as long as the sun doesn't screw me. The electrical tape is perfect on the 1/2 inch dowel it slides in without having to worry about it getting stuck, but gives enough friction to keep it from turning on its own.
