Occasionally hard to get to first from neutral

Every once in a while I find that the bike doesn't want to go into first gear from neutral. Most of the time it is fine but every once in a while it's not. Shifts fine, no clutch creep, no problem finding neutral.

Thoughts?

The Hayabusa transmission....seems like a common occurrence. Mine does this from time to time but otherwise shifts perfectly...

They have their little quirks.

I knew a guy who had a 600 Ninja and he started it up cold in gear and it took off across his lawn as the clutch plates were stuck together...apparently it was common with those...the owners manual said to start in neutral when cold.......but who reads the manual right?

Slightly off topic but I love the hydraulic clutch. It's so easy and butter smooth. My Harley had a Barnett clutch and it was a hard pull.
Suzuki have had hydraulic clutches for quite a while so they have it down to a science...

That being said, most modern liter bikes have cable clutches and they work excellently as well....all my bikes which had cable activated clutches never had an issue.

If you pull the clutch in and wait several seconds before you put it in first it may not want to engage every time because your giving the gears time to stop turning causing and miss-mesh. Try pulling the clutch and putting in gear within a couple seconds that way the gears haven’t had time to stop and have a better chance of meshing. I wouldn’t pull the clutch and immediately put it in gear because the gears are turning too fast and you may get a hard clunk.

I wondered about that. Thanks
