\"OH MY GOD!\" IS IN THE DETAILS

No this is not to attract flames just wanted you to look.

Wait till you guys get the new Sportrider.

First there is an article titled “Print is Dead†that basically rips on “e-zines†that are not related to print magazines. One of the editors lambasts on line magazines for everything from bad grammar and punctuation to being sarcastic (note that he apparently only accepts sarcasm aimed at e-zines). The most ridiculous part of his article though is when he takes issue with “language standards†he states that things get “fairly um…colorful, shall we sayâ€. Right above the word colorful is a picture of a rider on a Honda CBR flipping the bird! This guy is priceless!

Anyway I just thought that you all might want to read page 24 because Sport Rider has just discovered that the Busa was recalled due to the cam chain adjuster! Maybe next month they will tell us what color the Y2K Busa's will be? Hahahahahaha

BTW Don’t miss the drag racing article (pretty good actually) which features a man wearing a dress on a bike. Looks allot like a picture that would be on one of the British mags if you ask me. And on the last page, a picture of Colin Edwards' middle finger (note the second bird to be flipped in one issue). Could they be trying to rip off the LaBusa’s trademark?

But what do I know. As the editor who wrote the article put it "take everything you read on the net with a grain of salt". What everyone has to say here seems to have little validity or importance to certain editors.

Long live the internet.

And get down on your knees and thank the lord that we don't have to depend on Sport Rider for recall information! Hahahahaha

I believe that was "Suzuki's 189 MPH..." in reference to the recall, wasn't it?

Oh, yeah... what was the date that recall was issued? ...and how often is SR published?
Just Checking.

Of course, it's not like it's the bible on accurate test numbers (in comparison to other mags), but the do have nice tips fir some folks.

but in pursuing your always behind..............................your following the fastest motorcyle on the planet.............Hayabusa!!

Sorry NinjaKnight, I didn't mean to put words in your mouth. However, I'm looking through one of my older(10/99) copies of FastBikes and I can only find 2 ads from MC companies, Honda & Laverda. I think the reason for this is that in Europe & the UK motorcycles are more popular and motorcycling is more respected by the general population than it is in the US. Therefore they can say what they want about any bike and the riding public will generally believe it. What I'm trying to say is they hold the leverage over the manufacturers while over here the manufacturers hold leverage(advertising $) over the mags.
Here's an example. Its a product review of some type of guard to protect boots from shifter wear:

"Cycle clips went out with the ark, and the invention of immodium. Now if you're really that queer as to be worried about scuffs on your brouges from your gear shifter then fu*king walk! Or get a Harley with a heel shifter, or a car, or buy some boots or, alternatively, no forget about it. The first faggot to be seen wearing the tootsie tape will have shards of footrest aluminium shoved up his toe-nails. Sorry, but that's the way it is."

It doesn't sound like they're too worried about hurting any manufacturers feelings over there nor are they too worried about their ad money. Talk about honesty!

Omega, I just got it today and haven't looked in it yet, I'm saving it for the "special reading room." I like this mag so much I bought a subscription. Cost me 55 pounds, I think thats about $85.

Also,
I do agree that the only opinion on a motorcycle that counts is the opinion of the person buying it. Do your homework, research the bike, test ride if possible, ask present owners, etc. Although I did none of these things before I bought my busa. I guess I was lucky that it turned out to be the best motorcycle "I" have ever owned.

Sport Rider has been out for a couple weeks already. They are low on my list of magazines and usually favor 600's.
Perf. Bikes, Fast Bikes.......
The 12R will reign king of stock production bikes. Nothing different than what I thought two months ago. But, I met many new 12r owners and potential 12R and Busa owners at the show. The majority pose. (fat wannabees that will never hold full throttle.)
I am not an expert, but I am confident I will still beat most on the street due to their lack of skills and balls. Paper won't get the Busa, 12R, or any bike very far.
Good to see you back Ninjaknight.
If you would like to see some photos of the 12R I posted them at Labusas.org--"Kawasaki confident ..."
Bob

What you should have said is "This guy is spineless!" As are all of the US bike mags. How about this (in reference to their ZX-9 test) "...the carburetion is not perfect in on/off throttle transitions." It's so not perfect that it throws 10 riders to the ground at Misano! Why don't they just come out and say something like...for Kawasaki to introduce a new bike with a glitch like this is utter bullsh*t.

Please, this is not an attack on Kawasaki on my part, just an example of how the editors of the US mags gloss over things. If you want the down & dirty on any bike, the #1 source is FastBikes. They pull no punches and tell just how a bike holds up to their real world torture tests!

Yes Redelk that is the same issue.

Sport Rider is only published every other month. My point is that the editor is defecating on “e-zinesâ€￾ and information from the internet in general while his mag reports on the cam chain recall over four months after I read about it on this site. In my opinion the article was a misguided rant about the superiority of print over the Internet. I think that both mediums have their limitations and his tirade says more about the threat the Internet poses to his profession than a factual assessment of print vs. Internet media.

Robase: “What I should have said is this guy is spinelessâ€￾. There is nothing that “I should have saidâ€￾. All mags kiss their advertisers asses that is the way it is. You have to read between the lines when you get someone else’s opinion whether it be a bike mag, riding buddy or something off the internet the bottom line is people should form their own conclusions. If I were considering purchasing the 9 I would do my homework and then decide whether or not I still want the bike.

My friend hated his Busa’s throttle response until he messed with the TPS and got a PC2 now he loves it. I personally liked the throttle response on his bike before he messed with it. Who is right? Doesn't matter because the bike is sitting in his garage.

Since we share the same fondness of fastbikes Robbie, maybe you should read this months issue on the new niner. They absolutely love the fuker. Besides most owners will have that baby muzzyfied and jetted before you can change your brigestone. If you happen to ride up on one set up that way, dont say I didnt tell ya.
I'll leave you all with a quote from Doug Chandler: "I been ridin the new 9'er next to the 12 all day and when I think how much quicker this new 12 is,(pauses and shakes head side to side) its an amazing motorcycle."

Ninjaknight & OMEGA
The org. cancer, slowly eating away at the very fiber of their busa souls,
painstakingly draining them of their resolve,
Relentlessly pursuing them deeper and deeper into the abyss................

NinjaKnight, your points are all valid and well taken. For the editor , being in an "infomation medium" to take shots at another medium is pretty childish. What's next... Speedvision?

I thought it just was a laim editorial fueled by the facts that they can't afford to publish monthly (like the "upper classmen") and the don't have a website. These, I try to overlook since I have a subscription. I do enjoy reading the articles on "how to's" and I like the way they write, so even a squid like me can understand.

The "189 mph rocket..." is just like dyno numbers. Every magazines' going to have different numbers. I just thought they had done 194 on the Busa, before. I might be wrong. As for "colorful language", your pointing out of the photos in the SAME issue, made the editoral look even worse. You can't tell me the were a few *!@$, when he was wearing that box at the track!

Cycle World got 194 out of their Busa, Motorcyclist got 189 out of theirs. I would expect Sport Rider to hit the slower mark on a Suzuki. Often, magazines show a bias toward a particular brand, and it's not that hard to spot. Sport Rider is a Kawasaki magazine. Their 1/4 mile times for Kawasakis tend to be .4 to .5 seconds faster than the other magazines seem to get, but their times for other bikes seem to be in line with what the others get...pretty consistently.
