OH NO MICE!!!

Took out the 2006 busa today and put the battery in it to
start her up and what a sweet sound. Then I noticed these
small clumps coming out of the exhuast. This went on for
a few minutes and I did not think it was much, until I
looked at my parents car (parked behind my bike).
Splattered with this stuff what a mess!

Anyway, after looking at some of the bigger pieces it looks
like there was a mouse nest in my Yoshimira this past
winter. I also remember a mouse running out of the garage
last weekend when we were unpacking the bikes.

I think all of the nest is out, the exhaust did have smoke
coming out for a little bit after I shut off the bike. When I
restarted the busa no more junk came out and no more
smoke. I did rev it a bit to increase the air flow out to see
if anything else would come out and nothing did.

Should I take off the Yoshimira and wire brush the inside
of the pipes and exhaust? Could the mouse have caused
any damge?

Thanks for any info.

RICE! Bwaaahahahahaha!

I'll bet those muffler ends will be covered next winter! I've seen mouse nests in the intake manifolds and cylinders of cars and trucks parked out in the weeds. Always a good idea to deny them access through the exhaust system.

seems to me that another member told the exact same story last year as well.

it just seems logical to cover the end caps if you live in an area prone potential "can molestation".

That is hilarious, I can just imagine the smoke and blowing embers of the little rodents home blowing out you pipe.   Roasted rodent anyone?

No laughing matter, one my pre-flight checks is looking for birds nests, I will be adding rodents to the list!

back in the old days of carburated bikes i bought a ninja 600 from a guy who stored it in a barn, well i go it home and attempted to start it and while running through potential problems i found three dead baby squirrels in the air box.that night i dined on them with fava beans and a fine chiante.

I wouldn't be able to sleep until I removed the cans and inspected them from end to end.

I found a nest in my air filter of my Honda hurricane one time, never in the exhaust.
