oil filter installation problem

I have a 04 busa, was preparing it, to but away for the winter, and I changed the oil, and when I tried to put the new oil filter on, I can't get it started, so I thought, maybe it was the wrong oil filter, and went back to bike shop, and bought another one, same one. That won't start either, I can't feel any burs on the thread. So am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Turning it counterclockwise first like you're removing it can help the threads line up to start too.

If the old still goes on, Keep playing with one of the new ones, it will eventually go on. Check the threads on the new filter as well, doubtful both of them are messed up.

just sit down and relax... get comfortable then try it again

A shot of your favorite liquor helps too...Oil filter threads are very fine and need to be lined up pretty straight. Tough to get the filter and your hand in the right position if you are tired and been working on it a while. So yeah, take a pause for the cause and get back at it after a refresh!

Get a flashlight and a mirror in there and try to see if there is anything left on the treads. Feel with you fingers, too. It doesn't take much.
