oil in airbox! alot!!!!!!

wnet for a ride yesterday and midway through the ride me and my buddy open the bikes up on a long stretch. we stop and a cpl minutes later exhaust starts blowing out white smoke. i cut it off and look for oil leak of any kind and none. so wait cpl minutes start it up and it blows out for a cpl minutes and tapers out. so took it home it would blow out lil bit here and there. get home rip it apart, take filter off, covered in oil. pulled drain plug on airbox and about 3 oz of oil pours out. so upon further break down found some honeycomb paper looking stuff behind velocity stacks!!!! so now im just really lost on wtf happened. any ideas would help as 2 resolve this thanx

What kind of air filter do you have? If it is a K&N or similar has anyone recently cleaned and reoiled it? May have just put toooooo much on there and sucked it off filter when hammering it?

u kno what i did just clean and oil it about a month ago and havent really rode it since so u may be right! thanx now on 2 the honeycomb material!!!???

It's supposed to be there. It's the breather filter.

How about you filled the engine oil too much and it's backing back out through the crankcase breather at high RPM?

IS the oil level correct.


White smoke is usually antifreeze not oil need to check that also

I was thinking head gasket with the white smoke. Hope it turns out to be something real simple.

You most likely have oil in your airbox because of the crank case tube that runs from your crank case to your air box. In LSR we run these tubes straight out the back of the bike away from the tire. That way if anything blows then the oil doesn't go back into your engine where the EPA wants it, but rather it goes out the back down the street. You definately have a problem if you have a lot of oil in your air box. Have a mechanic look at it for you.

ive been slacking on changing the oil so the oil was way past due 2 change but the sight glass is showing its about half the glass now. at my last oil change, i over filled it and had to bleed it back out. and when i cleaned the air filter, i did oil it pretty heavy. no oil leaks whatsoever, no antifreeze drain or leaks, other than the smoke it blew out 4 about 5 minutes it drove and ran fine. didnt run hot at all. once it burn the oil off the pistons it stopped. still smoked a lil here and there but nothing heavy. gonna change the oil, clean everything up real good and drop it at my buddies shop 2 check the internals and rebuild if needed
