ok.. forgive my new-ness 2 the busa... but here is whats going on. ill turn the key onto the "on" position, the needles will do their thing, and all the idiot lights go on and off.. but the oil light will stay on and it will say "check" where the clock is. now, when i start the bike up it goes away. is this normal?

It is an oil pressure light. Engine not running... no oil pressure... light is on!
As for the oil light....Key on engine off....oil light on....normal
The CHECK indicator....is on when you have the key on and the kill switch off....its also on when you have the key on and the bike in gear with the kick stand down.
If either one comes on while your riding....you got a problem. Pull over and shut it down.
