Oil Suggestions

I know this issues has been beat to death and then some. However, when I do a search I don't find any articles disscussing exactly which oil to use. Just conventional vs synthetic.

I am getting ready to do an oil change on my 03 Busa. The first was done by the dealer, so this is going to be the first time I've changed it myself. What oil do you guys suggest? Keep in mind the bike only has roughly 1800 miles on it (so probably not time for synthetic). JohnnyCheese suggested I run Belray oil and an OEM filter. Unless anyone has any convincing arguments, I'll probably go with this as he hasn't steered me wrong thus far. However, this board is always filled with a wealth of knowledge, and I figured I'd get opinions from all before I make a decision.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

I Would say jc knows his stuff. .... i plan on going to synthetic next oil change .. i have been using a semi senthetic for the last 3000 now gonna go to synthetic.. golden spectro .. good luck btw bike has 5500 miles on it now.

OK, well I am not unbiased by anymeans but I started using Silkolene Pro Race 10W40 Full Synthetic in my Busa about 4K miles ago and I am really happy with it. Seems to run a little better but mostly it smoothed the tranny way out... Made it feel much better.... I love the stuff...

Oh and OEm filter is prolly best unless you want to spend about $100 on a Scotts reusable Filter. It's good stuff from what I have read and should outlast your bike.

On Rev's advice I put in Silkolene about an hour ago.. haven't had a chance to test it out though. If I find a difference, I'll definately be posting my thoughts!

I switched to full synthetic @2200 miles. MY mechanic thought that was a little early, I haven't had any problems at all though, runs great, feels good...

Thanks dude!  Think I'm going to wait until 3k, although I'm not seeing any more garbage clinging to the magnetic plug now anyway.  Ah well, another 1500 miles will go by quick.

Money for money Mobil 1 15-50 same stuff as Mobil 1 MX4T

Any good quality oil along with changing every 3,000 miles will give you what you need. If you change every 1500 you don't need the best stuff.

Gonna start changing every 3k...just doing early changes during break in, cause I'm a little freaky anal that way....lol

I have been using Redline 10w-40 since 3000 miles on my 99. I have over 18k and no problems. Like most have said, find a good synthetic that you can get your hands on easily and change every 3k.
