Oil Temp Gauge

OK guys, I need some pros to answer this. I want to install an oil temp gauge. Well, have the dealer install it. I need to know EXACTLY where the probe goes into the block for the oil reading. This way I can show them which bolt to replace with the sensor. Thanks for the info.

If anyone has done this already, please give me any tips they may need and I will let the wrench monkeys know. I just don't want the dealership to screw it up. I have a 2008BKING.

the lower galley on the right hand side has a plug. You can easily replace this with an adapter that has 1/8 npt threads. Sorry I can't find a pic.

aside from cluttering your dash, what's the purpose of this? If you had an old oil cooled motor I could probably understand, but it seems unnecessary on an oil cooled, water jacketed motor with 2 fans.....

Gix, can you take a picture of the sending unit on the motor? Then I can find that point on my bike to show them where to mount it. Also, what temp is your oil when riding? Thanks!

wish i could tell you what you want to know. i do have a question, though: if the dealership is doin the work, shouldn't THEY already know where to install the plug or sensor? ???

Gix1300R, those four gauges look real sharp! It is important to know what is going on in that engine (instead of assuming/guessing)! Very nice appearance!:cheerleader::cheerleader:

Indeed it is. Speaking of which, can anyone tell me where I can get gauges for the following: exhaust gas temperature (in both Fahrenheit and Celsius), tyre temperature (in Kelvins), coolant fluid viscosity, and oil colour?

I've been riding for 35 years without knowing any of these things, and in complete bliss for most of that time, but God only knows how both my bike and myself have survived. More knowledge is a necessity.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

LoL if you're riding your bike worth a damn all these gauges are worthless. A pyrometer is worthless also, buy a uego, that is unless you're running a prob in each runner. Buy a data logger and call it good.
