I'm not sure this is the 'fix' that fixes what was broken to begin with. I've gone back through some of the threads and tried to find a particular link that was to an article describing the situation from an engineering stand point. The author went to great lengths to explain the physics behind the conditions that exist at five thousand feet as well as the lack of integrity that went in to the procedures to tap into the oil reserves in this area.

I'm not sure we've seen anything close to the end of this thing yet...:down:
 
True as until the relief well is finished this still has the potential to leak so until that well is done I guess we will have to keep our fingers crossed.

I just love how the media fed all these doomsday scenarios and people just gobbled them up.In the end as with any mishap it just took a little time to fix. Now lets see how long it takes for everything to get cleaned back up :beerchug:.

Exxon spill in Alaska is still being "cleaned up" that spill was 1989 :whistle: the drop in population of wild birds an other wild life has still not recovered.

this is a report from 2000 10 years went by an all they picked up was 3 to 16% of the oil, the tanker spilled 32 million gallons.

How much oil was spilled into the ocean from the rig ??? Some comes up to the top some clump an floats below the surface some may settle towards the bottom. Oil is all the way here in FL.

They haven't cleaned up the last one which was a lot smaller over 20 years ago an no one is going to clean up this one

We need oil so you won't see me flying the stop oil drilling flag. But financial penalties do not work on oil companies. They are penalized for each gallon of oil spilled. Make the owners of these companies spend their free time on their hands an knees cleaning up the coast line an watch an see if any of them keep violating safety precautions an protocols.
