I put like 400 some odd miles on it like that. I know what your thinking... Im a retard but does anyone now if that would hurt my bike?

Thanks in advance

If nothings wrong after 400 miles, no. How do you know it's a 1/2 quart over? How were you measuring it?

Well I noticed It was over So i dumped Out some oil into a bowl and got it right at full and thats just my best guestamation it might even be less than that. Im just kinda freaked so i wanted to ask a soon a possible.

Unless your using some sort of precise measuring device you can never be sure. I just changed my oil using the gallon size jug (4.73 quarts on label) Well I though I poured in the correct amount by using the lines on the side of the container, but when I was done the oil wasn't even registering in the window, put in almost another whole quart before she was at the proper "fill line" (this of course after I ran it and warmed it up before checking the level)

You don't want to have WAY too much. You might be okay but if you're worried about it you can CAREFULLY, back out the drain plug a little at a time until it drains a bit of oil out. I've done it before and if you're careful, you won't make a mess or drain out all of your oil. Depends on how confident and careful you are.

My opinion? Better not to run it overfull but you're probably not exactly in the danger zone. Also, bear in mind that if you're not using a rear stand, it can be difficult to hold the bike at perfect level. If you tip it a little too far to the right it may LOOK like it's overly full when in fact, it may not be. Have someone sit on the bike and hold it while you check the level.

Thank You all very much... Im definitely more at ease now and i did get it right at the full line so as long as nothing happened then, I should be fine.. Again thanks. Awesome Forum Awesome people

If you are not seeing any issues now, you dodged a bullet..

to much oil can be as bad as not enough... you would already know if it caused any damage however..

in most cases a motor will just start to smoke with excess oil level.

What "can" happen is the oil foams (crankshaft works like a blender) and then pump cavitation happens... from there, normal low oil pressure damage occurs...

In other cases it can actually push out seals or flood the intake tract with oil and hydraulic a motor.. (all are pretty apparent when things quit working)

I run my busa over full constantly. I keep it at the top of the window cold. You certainly didn't hurt your engine any.
