Well, sorta. I was all set to do the fork servicing but the local guys will do all the work for the same $$ I would have spent just on parts.

Besides, I didn't have all the tools anyway.

It'll be about a week.

Still, if y'all wanna come over for beers while I put the new ones back on, you're all welcome to do so!

OMG you make me cry tears or patheticness... Come on. Seriously, its not that difficult. Although I will be buying the basic fork service tool kit this w/e. I am stunned, stupified really. I simply fail to understand this train of thought. It takes 2-3hrs tops, and thats with BS'ing and not having the right tools. The satisfaction when your done, and you take it for a ride is just awesome as the new ride itself. Seriously though, when I went to work the other day, everyone was asking why I'm riding if my seals still leaking (most knew the stealership wasn't getting the seals/wipers until THIS thursday). So, I told them I rebuilt them Friday night, over a rootbeer and with the wife or a friend helping. No Sh*t? Was the most common reply to that. Followed by, how the he!! do you it...blah blah blah...

Oh man. I think I need to step back from the keyboard for a while and clear my mind. Heavy, Ran, think about it guys...

Ditto, I dont feel qualified.

And I would hate to F this job up.

But then again I do have the big green bible.

I understand guys, was just ruffling the feathers a little. Like I wasn't nervous about messing it up? Oh yeah. I had the fork out, looking at it with the cap unscrewed from the upper tube, and wondering WTF am I about to get into! Nerving. But, after flipping thru the manual, and seeing where/what special tools were/were doing, I was able to navigate thru it. If you guys lived around Wag or closer I'd come over and help you out..but Va is an iron-butt ride, and MI, well, only go back there to visit parents. Besides, I'm too broke after all the Christmas shopping

I actually enjoy wrenching on my girl more than you know. Getting into her in this intimate is more fun than most other things I can think of. Plus, I have nooooooo doubts about my ability to get her feeling all nice and warm and fuzzy whenever I go at it with her!

The only reason I sent it out to be done is $$. I did take the right fork off and start messing with it but could NOT get that frickin' spring to compress right. Dammit. After an hour or so, I finally just said, screw it. Let's wait until the guys come over and they can help.

When I called in for parts, and pricing, the guy thought I was going to bring them in and the price he quoted me was just a hair over the amount I was going to spend on the parts alone direct from the mfr.

Done deal. Besides, after messing with the spring the night before, I was resigned to buying the tools to do it but with them doing it for me, it's actually going to cost me less than if I buy the tool and do it myself.

Again, done deal.

On the other hand, if you're up for beers in the garage in the effin' cold, I'm still going to have to reinstall 'em! If all goes well, either this Sat or Sun.

I feel that Louis, the spring is no joke. Well, stocker wasn't bad, it was the .95 that killed my abs, literally had tip toes balancing me as I pressed down with my entire 165lbs on it! I am making a spring compressor this week, and will be building a set of forks for a buddy. I'll get docu-pic happy this time around, now that I know what I am getting into and will have more time.

Saw your photo documentary. VERY cool, bro.

Saves me the guilt of having not done it myself! LOL

Your correct on the pricing, Wag ! For how much it will cost you in parts to do it yourself its a no brainer just letting the pro's do it.

But I'm with Cat3, on this one.  When the time comes to do mine I will more than likely do it myself knowing now how easy it is to do with Cat3 DIY as a guide and a shop manual handy.
