Ive only got 1K miles on my Busa and already I have several
chips on my fairings..am I riding too close or is this just a fact
of owning a sportbike with full fairings?

I don't know what to tell ya there man......are you racing that thing on gravel roads or what? I have over 9,000 on mine and my fairings might have one or two SMALL to VERY small nicks in them. Seems kinda abnormal to me at least

Well several might be an over-statement, I have like 2 small nicks on the left fairing..perhaps it was just bad luck and thats all I will get for awhile. The front fender has about 3 nicks in it...I recall one guy saying that this was normal on the front fender.

mine are all jacked up, Look on the very bottom of your fairing or right below the oil cooler/radiator.

Yeah I think it's the luck of the draw on some of that. I have been lucky my front fender actually does not have a scratch on it. but having full fairings and highway riding a lot yes you are gonna pick up some nicks here and there. Just hopefully yours slows down a bit here. lol

Iwas in the same situation right after I bought my 2003, except I had little less miles on mine when I noticed it. I was about at 800 miles and my upper fairing and fender started to really look like crap. I'm not talking about some light nicks here, I has a few spots where the chip was all the way through the clear coat, paint, and you could see under the paint. They were that deep. I was not impressed with Suzuki's paint at all. They would have been better off to have Shoei paint their bikes, since my helmet was and still is purfect.

30,000 km and mine look like theyve been sand-blasted.

probably coz thats pretty much whats happened to them

Did you repaint it or something?

If your real concerned, 3M makes a clear adhesive for vehicles for protecting the paint. I'll see if I can remember the website.

Na, I never repainted it.  I did take it to the Honda dealer in town to get an honest opinion since I know a lot of the guys down there.  They thought that something wasn't quite right.  After that I went back to the Suzuki dealer where I got the bike from.  They ended up calling Suzuki, but Suzuki said there wasn't any other reports of paint problems, so the dealer wouldn't do anything for me.  That is my one problem that I have ever had with Suzuki.  I was not pleased.
