Hello everyone, So heres the deal. Trip to the Rock coming up soon and theres this guy I know who thinks his bikes golden. Wants to run em he says. The match up is;

Him: 07 GSXR 1000, 42000mi, M4 slip on, K&N "Race" filter, velocity stacks, Bazzaz ZFi w/QS (quick shift kit), TRE, and I believe tuned. He says it makes over 175hp on all stock motor (no says I!). Geared to -2 up front +1 in back, and 6" extension blocks...

Me: 09 Gen II, 26k mi, Tsukigi Full Canon, Filter, Airbox mod, Bazzaz ZFi & ZBomb, X-Ring chain, +1 rear, trac king clutch kit w/ stiff springs, 187hp. adjustable lowering links, lowered front, and chromolly arm set out +8.75"

Obviously, not in my favor thus far. However He is aprox. 260+lbs compared to my 149!

So... any opinions on what the odds are?? Would it be wise to make a friendly wager?

Im not sure on him, always brags about his bike with someone else riding it, but will be him this time... And Ive been on the 1/8th several times, never ran a 1/4. Average times, nothing spectacular. Mid to low 6's in the 120's mph range.

Same person riding both bikes I dont see how that Gsxr would pose a threat but nerves, skill level, and what ever information has yet to be disclosed could be a deciding factor:whistle: There was a guy at a track I used to go to alot that raced a honda CRX. Primer paint job, no interior, trash can exhaust and looked like a total P.O.S. However he would never pop the hood or tell any1 his setup. Needless to say he would smoke damn near anything that lined up against him and make guys in their $40,000 dollar cars stupid. Sometimes you cant take a sure thing for granted

you should beat him based on weight. Make no mistake, the GSX-r1000 is no slouch, get your launch down and don't look back. Good luck

M4 slip "on", either that's a typo...or the 1000 has a full exhaust.
The 07 was the first year that the gsxr1000 had factory dual exhaust with a catalytic convertor.
Not a deciding factor, as at best maybe he has another 5 hp.
As said, you have the weight advantage. 100+ lbs is significant.
Rider skill will decide.
A 1000 will outrun a busa no problem(and vice versa), I don't know why that's so hard for some folks to belive.
Good luck.:beerchug:

base on looks and powertrain, should be a no brainer that the sportbike will spank some azz, right?

+1
I've personally seen 2 Hardlys edge out 1000s, and with skilled riders(impressive is an understatement).
I didn't go ask any questions, as it had to have cost a fortune...and we won't even talk about reliability.
You really don't know what the guy in the next lane just may do.

(1000 in this video needed a rider)

I don't know anywhere NEAR enough to "know", but I would agree with others that looking only at the bikes and rider weight and assuming equal skills, that you s/b able to take the win. My opinion is based mostly on the fact that you have a big weight advantage and small HP advantage. In addition, if he's that much heavier, you may also have an advantage in the aerodynamics department, not to mention that fact that you're on a Hayabusa that was designed in a wind tunnel! :)

Best of luck and let us know what goes down! :cheerleader::beerchug:

It will come down to who can launch better. Weight will pretty much be the same for both of you and there is a pretty good possibility that the 1k does have that much power. The 07-08s make the most power of all the models.

Are you runnnig mid 6's with your bike stretched? If that is the case and he is a darn good rider it will be a very very close race IMO. Even a big guy on a stretched 1K should run mid 6's if he can ride it. Just my .02. If he can't ride you should get him, no problem. Good luck and keep us posted!

I would agree that based on weight, your Hayabusa shouldn't have much of a problem on the big end but of course he could be some big boy who can ride the wheels off his litre bike
