I was gonna go with the HMF full dual, but decided to go with the Yoshi SS Tri-Oval slip ons. I realize that this isnt gonna get me a big gain the way the full system would have, but just didn't want to spend the extra money on getting custom map and labor for it all right now. From what I have read I should expect maybe 3 hp and drop 10-15lbs off bike weight. This should make a "feelable difference shouldn't it?

Still gonna go with the HMF system, but not gonna do it til winter when I tear bike down again, so these will be up for sale in the next couple of months.

Looking for performance should of went with full system. For looks slip-ons are fine. Getting custom map will give you some more pep for sure. Are you gonna pay someone to install the slip-ons and pc3? That kinda like throwing away $$?

Enjoy! Any "Mod" is always an improvement.

Like I said, I am gonna go for performance but just gonna wait til winter, but wanted to get something on it now. Gonna do all the install myself. Have already did the marble mod and large air box mod, those made a difference so i'm guessing this should make a difference too?

I know it won't be what i'm looking for, but it will get me through til winter when I can complete everything at once.

If you get a pc and free flowing filter to go along with the yoshi slips you'll get a very noticeable sotp increase. And you'll be dumping more than 5 lbs a can......ALOT more

When you get your yoshi's weigh them both and see

Most of the guys that bash slip-ons have never used them with a good map and filter combo, they're just repeating what they've heard...kinda like a parrot

I've done both..and a full system (4-into-1) will give you more power upstairs, but take away from the low end. Slips with a pc will give you more low/mid and some top-end. Slips with nothing else though won't do near as much. But then neither will a full system

For me personally the top end gain of the full system wasn't enough to warrant the low end loss and the extra expense and hassle of install. And you can get good slip-on maps without the need for a dyno tune....although a custom tune done by a GOOD tuner is always best for any mods. A tune done by a poor tuner is a WASTE of money...and can give you a bike that runs like crap.

+1 to Tuning; make sure when/if you do go with a PC III or other EFI controller that you go with a reputable guy to get custom mapping done-dont be scared about mid-range loss w/a full dual himount HMF tho, I got a map done for mine back in tha day, and those pipes performed better than OEM everywhere in the rpms!

only time I had issue was when I switced maps by mistake (oops!) bike ran rich I was throwin some pretty bad fumes out the pipes... just get the system that you like the best bro: 4-5hp aint guna matter after 100mph, and there arent many public places to get up to those speeds; whether exhaust makes more hp or weighs less matters less than if you actually LIKE the pipes, is what Im saying.

Have fun with the Yoshimuras, you may not want to go any further than that. If you do, get the PCIII and get a map done for your bike-the $$ is high, but the payoffs in smoothness, power are worth it IMO

Thanks for the input guys, I didn't realize adding the PC would make that big of a difference even with just slip ons. Gonna look into ordering that today.

What's involved with hooking that up? is it plug and play or is there some hard wiring that needs to be performed? Pretty good with electronics and such so shouldn't be a problem, just wanted to know what I'm getting myself into...lol.

Will the maps that they provide do me any justice as opposed to getting a custom map? There is a VERY reputable guy here in my area, he wants 400$ for a custom map, from what I have seen that seems to be the going price. Just wondered if it is worth it or should I just use a general map and wait til I finish all the other mods over winter and not have to spend 400$ twice?

Nothing wrong with waiting for the next step. The slip ons will sound great and maybe get you 1 extra hp. Maybe, but it will fell good. Lots of great used systems out there especially from the turbo boys who don't use the pipes any more. Few years back i let go a full HMF sytem for 1/2 the price with only a couple of thousand miles on it, since I run a straight out the back dump pipe.

Just installed them.

I know...I know...people are gonna want pics, but will post some up tonite when I get home.

I am not very impressed to say the least. I did the mod for drilling the holes on the stockers and can honestly say that those were louder than the Yoshi's with the baffle in. Is that normal? I went ahead and took the baffle out and made a huge difference sound wise, couldn't really tell a difference power wise. gonna ride it a couple days each way and see what happens. they are having a bike night here on sat and its only 20$ for a dyno run. Gonna have it done twice, once with them in and once with them out and just let the computer tell me if there is any real loss.

If you get a pc from a reputable shop that supplies custom maps with the pc you should be fine. I definately wouldn't get it dyno tuned for slips if you're going to a full system this winter. And its plug and play...easy to install

And I agree with Big Diesel..if I was going to go full system again it would be a full dual..either the HMF or Ti-Force. Like he said you'll get more power everywhere
winkold.gif
And Yoshi's are some of the quieter slips/pipes you can get. Make sure they're race slips...in other words you should be able to see straight through them. The street baffled cans are too restrictive. And yes the baffles need to stay out for the best performance. Pick up the pc and a BMC race filter if you want to feel the power increase....that combo will give you as much of a difference as the slips.
I'll be honest tho...yoshi's have never really impressed me as much power wise as some other brands out there. They look good tho
winkold.gif
And they will still make a nice diff
