Out running the cops

Saw a clip on CNN this afternoon of a guy in Texas trying to outrun the cops on his bike. According to the reports, he hit speeds of up to 145 mph. Hard to see--but looked like maybe an R1. Bike was fast, but hot as fast as a radio or helicopter! What's the old saying..."We always get our man!!!!"

Well, a TV Chopper or Cop Chopper want do 145 mph. Wonder if he was the same guy who was clocked (yea really) by a HPD Chopper at 205 mph

on a Honda RC 51 (stock) ! Yea, like I believe their measurements and timings

Watch this clip...he was clocked by a cop...gonna spend some time in jail me thinks. The funny part ( watched it live on cnn) is that the copter followed him to his house. And saw him get off go in open the garage door and then pull the bike in. Thought he got away cause he didnt see or hear the copter.

Unreal seeing that...pisses me off more than anything, and the cop on the HD behind him had to be thinking this kid's going to be all over the pavement or worried that he'd go down trying to keep him in his sights...just aggravating to see guys do that...

thats crazy, they both swerve at each other .... the dude on the R6 I bet, not R1, really didnt seem to pull too far away. If it was an R1 I bet he would have put a much larger gap on the officer than he did.... either that or the dude didnt have the balls he thought he did

Either way, the guy is a moron. Anyone know what the charge was... prior to being stupid and trying to run

No matter how fast your bike is it. A radio is alot faster and Crazy most Police helicopters top out around 100-110. When they pursue someone going faster than that they just get higher until they slow down.

That's correct, about 125 Kts or 144 mph is it's max straight line level speed and you don't cruise or do that for long. Generally about 110 to 115 kts ( 125 to 133 mph) is their cruise speed. You've got to get to the bigger and more powerful helios to get to sustained speeds of 145 mph

I think their max cruise is around 160 mph or 140 kts. As I recall the max speed is around 190 mph or 166 kts. Helos aren't really built for speed, and their rotor speed is governed by the tip speed (can not be allowed to exceed the speed of sound because of massive loss in rotor lift). Generally bigger the rotor section (width and size) dictates its lift ability not speed. The rotors also have what's called lead and lag, which is as the rotor goes forward it actually bends backwards and then bends forward as it goes toward the rear.

Helos are an engineering mess, with a zillion parts trying to go in the opposite direction. And in my humble opinion, they're an accident looking for a place to happen

130 mph in a straight line youd have to be doin some seriious speed in a straight line to out run that ! the chopper has nothing in its way , and the bike is goin to run out of room fast!!!!!!!!! not worth it , way too much at risk take the ticket at first i heard the guy didnt know he was bein pursued but the film , which i am sure the judge will see , just convicts him of several accounts of speeding , wreckless driving , failure to obey traffic device, clearly evading, and posibly endangering the life of that motorcycle cop , he is just screwed !!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am sure i missed a few charges in there , at least he has a video to prove he once had a license and a bike ! nobody hurt , thats a good thing , nut he is scwewed!!!!!!!
