Im changing oil and thought Id at least unhook the pair. Im assuming to remove it I have to remove the headers??? If so , Id rather save the removal for when I install pipes. What and how , do I unhook? Im doing this due to the odd backfire I get , I understand this can harm the motor. Thanx guys.. sj

I probably wouldn't mess with it. Are you running rich? I'm having a problem with backfiring, and I'm running really rich.
The dealer told me to check the TPS to make sure it's set correctly (you'll need to be able to put your bike in "dealer mode" to check).
The other thing the dealer mentioned was that there's another sensor (ambient pressure?) that can cause problems as well.
I've changed plugs and set the TPS, but am still getting the backfires, so I'm taking the bike into the dealer.
