Pair Valve Mod?

What is this pair valve mod you guys keep mentionin? What is it? What improves from removing it?

Also, I just got a PC3 for my 03 busa.... curious to know what map I should use with these shortie pipes. I plan to get it tuned in 2 weeks but want to know what to use for now? Help appreciated.

All i have is a K&N filter, short pipe (w/baffle) and the PC3.
