Is the Pearl White and Black busa related to any year? Fro instance the Bronze/silver is '99...etc...

Sounds like and aftermarket paint scheme...Not for sure...Also non USA bikes come in different color schemes...

No scheme bro. Actually Ive been looking so hard for the colors I wana paint my busa and I think the pearl white is sweet. I will be getting the '04 but dont liek the colors at all. Still not sure about anything, but the pearl is a winner for now!

I've seen lot's of Busa's never the color your referring...I ain't challenging you on it's color either...Post a pic...

I have kept up with most of the Busa colors for each year, including the foreign models. I am pretty sure that there hasn't been anything near a Pear/Black. And as Stunnah said, don't remember many custom jobs in these colors.

If you are going to paint it, why not look for a new '03? It should be cheaper.

Good luck.

Saw this post after you emailed me. Mine is black and white with silver pearl.

The pearl is mixed into the clear. The minimum pearl needed for light colors is the same as the maximum needed for dark colors. This amount is like like 1 tsp. per mixed quart. I found this concentration to be perfect for the white, but too much for the dark. I would have prefered using the minimum light concentration for the white and the minimum dark concentration (like a ¼ pearl) for the black. Mine came out more charcoal/white, than black/white, as I originally intended.

This, however, would have required that I either use metallic paint instead or that I go through the process of painting the under coats, then masking for the pearl all over again. I suppose I could have sprayed the minimum concentration over the whole bike, let it dry and then mask the dark areas and spray a ¾-minimum light concentration.

I would really like to ask some veteran painters about their techniques some time. But that should be something to consider when you are doing this. In other words, don't expect a brilliant white pearl AND a deep black pearl with only a single pearl session. As far as I can tell, it has to be two sessions. I am also not certain how this would affect flash times and curing, since I used a special catalyzed urethane clear.

SOOO many details. But I can't wait to get a new place, a new booth and start painting again.

Narcissus,
Aren't you the guy who runs patched tires? I remember him having a white and black busa for an avatar.

Can see it now catching up to group of MC riders blasting (+25mph over speed limit) down the freeway.

Catch up with a B&W bike that for a second they only catch glimbse of from corner of the eye. Can you say Heart Attack

Narcissus, I SALUTE YOU!!! Fuckn amazing man. By far this is the sweetest Busa Ive seen. For real. She's a beauty...

Thinker62: Im in the UAE now and here they only got new '04 no new older models. So i sorta got no choice. I woulda gotn a new '03, but here can only find used. and not goin for used!

Stunnah: here are some pearl white/black pix comin up. Im not sure if these bikes were custom are actual suzuki... Coz it wasnt one or 2, I actually found quite a bit...

I still don't know...If I were to take a guess, I would go with coustom paint...Both the pics indicate that the bikes have some coustom adds on...Nice paint...Go for it...

The trick is to put the pearl in mixed base coat binder without any pigment added, bro. That's how all the factory tri-coat (candy/pearl) colors are done these days. That's also how most of the graphix and airbrush artists lay it down. Much easier to work with on two tones and multi-color graphics layouts than mixing the pearl into urethane clear. If you need more info on it just hit me up. I can point you to a few sources with info on the matter.

Man, that confused the crap out of me when I was trying to find info between metallics and pearls.

So what is the net effect between mixing the powder into the base coat versus mixing it into a pre-final clear? Would it be as deep?

I guess for the best effect, I could have mixed the powder into the white base coat, left the black pure, then sprayed a light pearl over the whole thing, giving a nice deep-black and a brilliant white. I'll definitely email you for more info.

You've got a reply PM bro. I'll send you another one with my e-mail addy included. I forgot it in the other one.

Thanks! I had completely forgotten about the SG100 intercoat.

Man, I've got an addictive urge to paint my bike all over again!

You make it sound like running patched tires is something bad.

Nah, I just remembered you saying you wanted them if anyone had any. I took a 208 off of mine because of a nail puncture, it is almost new. I don't want nothing for it, just thought I would give it to you if you want it. I put green tape around the hole so you can see it better. Hit me back and let me know.
