Pegs

I notice SlowHand removed the rubber from his stock pegs to get some more room. I replaced mine with a pair of GSXR750 all-metal pegs. Not sure what year. Dealer said they'd fit. I love them, but had to make bushings because the new one are for larger bolts and file off the corners because they were too swept-back. No big deal. Used some nylon bushing material found poking around in the bins at the hardware store.

My boots would hang up on the rubber on the stock pegs and a couple times I almost didn't get my foot down in time stopping. I've never had a problem since I changed and they look a lot nicer, too.

So far I have installed 3 sets of GXSR1100 footrest;all customers refused the sensors.work great. I've rode all there bikes but I still have stock w/ a set on my bench

JC - did you have any notes on special bushings? Will the GSXR 750 bushings work?

I'm almost sure TBR (twobrosracing.com) has aftermarket pegs for the busa. Call them because they take a while to post newer items on the site. I'm waiting for their exhaust hanger bracket replacements without rear foot pegs.

I stopped by my dealer's on my way home. He says that the 97, 98 and 99 GSXR 750 pegs are all different. Does anyone have a year that works best?

So am I understanding this right? The GSXR pegs will fit (maybe needing a bushing) but that the stock pegs minus the rubber are still lower?

Slowhand, is there any way you might consider posting a photo of your modified stock pegs on the 12 site?

Dragonslayer yes that's about right.
I replaced mine first thing when I got my Busa. Had to make a bushing at work, no big deal, LP gold pegs look nice, but now I have serious hots for the Mikuni rearsets. I really do have a bug about this stock rubbermounting of the footpegs, and can't resist the thought that it contributes to the missed shift problem. Old liberal cure: throw money at the problem!

tinhead,
Today I lowered the gearshift by one notch and found it helped a bunch with the shifting business. Have you tried this yet?

As far as the peg goes, when I took out the rubber insert I found the outside of the peg, where it slopes up, to be a little uncomfortable. I thought about just ordering the center section of the stock peg (without rubber or underneath plate if possible) and then just grinding off the upslope on the outside of the peg. That way I would have the lowest set up without the intrusion of the outer part of the peg. I doubt this would look as nice as the replacement pegs but seems like it would work well for giving the most leg room.

Dragonslayer yes lowering did help. I noticed previously this site also that maybe Dirty Pete reversed shift pattern to 'race' 1up 5down and said that helped. I might try this when I mount the rearsets. It will at least give anybody I let ride my bike something else to think about.

I reversed mine at 1000 miles. it was a little tricky you have to remove the lower sidestand bolt. I replaced it with a stud that I loctited in and cut off the end so the shifter would not hit it.

My mistake they are off a 750. It's been a long week off can't wait till tomorrow blast the Busa. It's 80 today going to be 70 tomorrow YES!! Sorry to all those who live north.
