Perforated leather

I was looking at this site http://store.proitalia.com/31512311xx.html

But I can't really see the perforations. Does the leather have hundreds of perforations, or is it just vented in certain areas?

I'm looking for something that is really cool in 100 degree heat. I saw a couple of guys on Busas that were wearing some kind of gray suits that looked thin and had a sheen to the fabric. You could see protectors under the material. It didn't look like leather. Any idea what material they would be made of and if it offered any real protection?

I use leathers, infact I have both summer and winter leathers. That said, my summer leathers are perforated BUT, 100 F is still HOT

even while riding. The mesh jackets I've seen just don't give much protection and they look to me to be more for cooling and fashion than protection. Some of my friends say that the stich type are cooler than summer leathers (that's debatable as to how much), but even though they have armor in them, I still feel safer in my leathers. A couple of summers ago I went through what your looking at, and I just felt better and safer in Leathers. To each his own, but I've gone down before and I wouldn't want to be wareing anything else but leather with armor in'em

Here's how Alpinestars do perforations on their stunt jacket. It comes with a liner & been wearing it around here in 20F weather and still stays warm. Not sure how other company's do their perforated leather.

Yep, 100 is hot, but if you have a perfed jacket and youre moving, it will be cool. There are hundreds of holes! The wind goes through like nobody's business, but thats WHILE youre moving.

Yeah, I see lots of holes. Might not be too bad until August. I mainly ride at night then anyway. How much does the jacket cost and where did you buy it, please.

I think retail from Dennis Kirk is $345.00, but got mine local for $215.00 - My buddy is having a big 40% off thing on clothing at his Suzuki shop.

Also forgot to mention that I think the Red/Blk/Wht is the only version of this jacket that comes Perforated. If you need help with sizing, drop me a pm...this is a fitted jacket, with hard armor...not the little foamy stuff. 46 US/ 56 EU

New Enough linky to jacket

Another option for ya - DJ is selling a really nice jacket in the For Sale section, its a Joe Rocket Size 50. I would have got it, but the size didnt work out for me....but its Frickin New, same color scheme as the Alpinestar, and Perforated - Really sweet jacket!.... "Joe Rocket Leather Blaster 2.0 Perf Jacket, Size 50, New … $175.00"

Mine is so perforated that I can only wear it on warm to hot days, if it's cool I have to wear something else under it.
I'm looking for a no perforated one for fall and spring, just have not found one that zips into my pants.

Went out today (60 F) in my winter leathers and got

while just tooling around town. Next time I'll ware the summer unless I hit the Highways. They were great on the highway but with winds of 22 and gusting to 40 mph it wasn't fun

so I just came back .

I still ride in 100+ weather in full leathers. I have a vest that you soak in water to wear under your gear. It cools for about 4 hours.

I do that same trick when it gets hot, take your T-shirt and soak it in water put it on and it becomes AC for your body, good for hours.

So, are there two options. One is leather, which protects your skin, the other is armour which gaurds your bones and joints?
Maybe you can have both?

I really don't want to suit up like a space man, isn't there something light and not so hot that you could wear and have both kinds of protection?

I had a Hind Gerrick with the same preforations in WI and it worked great in all weather. Don't get me wrong though 100 is hot no matter what you are wearing.

If you want full protection, you are probably going to wind up looking like a Power Ranger.
