Speak of the devil... Discovery is running the Phoenix Lights show today... Remember, it did not happen.. thats what the guys at Luke AFB said...

Sweet, seems I might have seen one before on there. Very good as If I recall correctly!

ok

he says, "Unless the military claims otherwise...." What? Why would THEY say anything?

There is a military training area right about where they were, I saw them that night too, I did not see a huge UFO, but more than likely a line of flares would be my guess. I was a military air traffic controller at Luke AFB at that time and heard that some pilots also reported the "flares". I could be wrong though, but personally I don't believe in that stuff.

so why didn't the "Military" just call up and say "Yeah we were using a flare system that night"? Oh oh oh because it was an accident that it happened OVER a crowded, public area and they didn't want to admit THAT or people would loose confidence in them... Military radar and sensors can detect ants farting in the dessert but they MISS large, bright lights floating around in the sky? didn't even scramble any defensive jets? ? ? Confidence shot.

OR OR OR maybe JUST MAYBE, they are IN on it with the martians!! Yeah! Maybe the militray IS aliens! Thats's the ticket

no MOA anywhere in the area of the spottings... This all happened directly over Mesa,Phx and Scottsdale..

From where we were (Squaw Peak) the MOA is at least 10 miles NW. Most of the desert between Phx and LA is in fact restricted MOA and only a narrow corridor exists (above I10) for civilian air traffic..

Now if you go east of Mesa about 10 miles there is a military bomb range but that again is not even visible from the images (other side of apache junction)

From where we were and what we saw, this had nothing to do with flares (was dark when we spotted it initially, no lights at all)

The AF did state they were using flares that night fired off an A10. They actually did launch an f16, also the lights weren't over a crowded population but over a controlled firing range, they just appeared closer than the eye could visualize. I think people saw them and just started seeing what they wanted to be, a UFO.

The AF flare story came weeks after the entire incident... It was pretty rapidly debunked by a number of tests on the spectrum of the lights.. As we were pretty much directly under what ever this thing was (Osborn and Scottsdale Rd) I think I would have seen the parachute of the flare.. (have seen my share of flares)

what is the point of all this flare testing anyway? those are boring. now, large black Triangle airships, THAT would be fun to test at night! And why not release a statement warning the population BEFORE launching "hovering flares" into the night sky? Even *I* would have thought of that and I'm not military. Nope. It HAD to be aliens.

I always wonderd if there were all those flares over the city, why didnt someone end up on the news holding what was left of the flares pyrotechnics container saying "look this is what it was" ?

I'm not an expert on military flares, if an A-10 dropped them, I assume they are to mask/jam infrared signiture. Arent these a canister type flare?

From what I saw on video the apparent "flares" appeared to hover(like attached to a parachute) in an updraft, my understanding is that would not be a typical infrared jamming type flare.

Maybe an illumination type used by army or for emergencies. If a flare they all were remarkably consistant in altitude, descent, etc (not consistant with what little I know on aircraft flares). Help me out military folks. Thanks

The "flare" story is actually about a different set of lights on a different night.. These were south of "south mountain"

You may not know it but the Phoenix sightings covered a number of nights and different regions of the city and state.

What we saw had no lights initially (sort of hard to be flares)..

Other spottings south of the city were "lights" of some kind. I did not see those, the thing I saw was not illuminated at all when we first spotted it..

I am sure it was just some Govt project to make a great big flying thing that did not make noise... They were probably testing it to see if we could hear it... (we didnt) but we could see it... It probably went back to some quiet little airstrip on Groom lake....
