I ordered as set of the 2CT's from DerbyCycles.com last week.  110 for the front and 160 for the rear.  25 bucks for shipping from Kentucky via FedEx ground.  Got the tires yesterday.  Paid the stealership 45 bucks to install.  All said and done for 340.  Thats $80 cheaper than a local shop and at least that much cheaper than the stealership.  Thought I'd share the good experience.

I know this thread is worthless without pics but I cant find that thingy.

I got a good deal on mine too, 255 after tax for front and rear (made in spain)... Getting mounted for 55 once my CZ's are ordered and get here I guess. Good luck and scuff em good!

$280 is retail. Chances are your local dealer, if you ask, will try and be price competitive within $20-$30. This is why there is a proliferation of these huge multi-line dealers with morons behind the counter and terrible service departments. Old time mom-and-pop single line dealers are having to compete against mail order retailers who pay little to no overhead and have no storefront (or inventory for that matter...many just drop-ship) to speak of. The big box mega-mall dealers want to get you in the door with low advertised prices on bikes (but hit you with sneaky additional prep, delivery, and destination fees) and rape you on the way out on your accessories and add-ons. This hurts the small dealer as well since it is hard to compete price-wise on he bikes with someone who has 3X the inventory and is selling the bikes at $50 above cost...in addition to leaving a bad taste in your mouth in regards to buying accessories from a dealer.

Give the guy a chance, see if he can come close to your 'net prices.

Its all about timing for the most part. Congrats on the 2CT's.
Three months ago I got two Bridgestone BT002 R&T for $270 delivered then $30 to mount & balance. These are strictly my track day tires.
Two days ago I had to shop for tires due to a screw in the rear. I ran across some Pirelli Diablo's front & rear, mount & balance, with roadside warranty out the door price of $250 at the local Cycle Gear.

My thoughts exactly!

I never buy online if I can get it through my local dealer. Over the years I've developed a great relationship with them. Makes me feel like one of the family. I have an account there and pay monthly. I get nice discounts on everything I buy. They actually let me mount my own tires. They actually let me mount tires for my friends if they buy the tires there. If I have a problem with anything they take care of it, no questions asked. This local dealer which is family owned and operated sells more units than any other dealer in the state.

One will never build a relationship with a dealer by buying on line through discount houses then calling the dealership "Stealership" because they charge $30 more for a set of tires than the discount houses.

I hope they weren't the regular Diablos, I got 2400 miles out of the rear. No burnouts, just riding.

I'm all for trying to support my local shops but when I only have 1 in the city, it makes it kinda hard. I was shopping for a rear tire, the local shop wanted 180 for a tire I purchased online for 150. The same shop also charges 64.50 to mount the tire even if you purchased the tire from them. They also charge the same 64.50 if you bring in just the wheel to just get the tire mounted. Makes it kinda hard for me to support my local shop when I feel like they don't want to do anything but screw the customer. If I make a 45 min drive into houston, I can get my tire mounted for $15. I come out saving money by not supporting my local shop.

I really whish I had a local shop that I felt was out to help and take care of the customer. I wouldn't mind paying a little more then because at least I would feel like I was getting my moneys worth.

Sorry you've had that experience with them. I charge my customers $20/wheel if you bring the wheels in off the bike, $40/wheel if I have to remove and reinstall them from the forks/swingarm. We are about the cheapest in Los Angeles.

I had an experience like what you are describing with a dealer in the Seattle area. $60 to mount (off the bike) if I bought the tire from them, $80 if I bought it elsewhere. I told them to pound sand.
