Pilot Pwer 2's

I got nearly 7500 miles out of my first set.

I am going to change out my 2nd set next week; so far I'm at 6,000 miles (two months) on them.

I highly recommend them as an all-purpose tire. And you may know, I mainly do the canyon carving as my joy, so between that and getting to/from the mountains, and as much as possible, a 20-mile commute. They, like their brothers who went before them, have done amazingly well for me. Definitely worth the added $.

I am going to try some Pirelli Diablo Corsa 3's, though, after I go through my 3rd set of Road2's (currently in the "Engine Room" (my garage)) waiting patiently to be abused.

I bought the pilot powers 2ct's two weeks ago and I love them. Very sticky.
 
Have any of you fella's who run dual compound tires given any thought to the Bridgestone BTO16's. Dual compound fronts with triple compound on the rear. I've not used them but would like to give them a shot. I do hear very good things about them?
 
I hear good things about the Bridgestones. Never ran them after-market. It'll be interesting reading, for sure.

Triple compound rear? Why would that be better than just the double compound your either going straight or in a turn. Dont see the need for more.

There is a huge difference. Here is the reason why. The Pilot Power 2ct has the sticky bubble gum rubber on a very small strip just short of an inch wide on the outside edge of the rear tire. While this is a good sales pitch, it doesn't put the sticky stuff where it's really needed.

You can tip into the corner on a touring tire such as the Bridgestone BTO21 and take it all the way to the edge dragging your knee at will. Where the sticky stuff is really needed is about half way between the outside edge and the center of the tire. This is the area where you are adding power and demanding the most grip, the area where wheel spin is generally encountered. In this area, the PP 2ct has no better traction than the standard PP.

Most any rider who has a good grasp on loosing grip on the rear will tell you, spinning up the rear on corner exits is dancing with the infamous highside.

Go to the Bridgestone website and have a peek at the construction of the BTO16 and you'll see exactly what I'm referring to.

IMO, the Pirelli's Corsa III has a much better design than the PP 2ct. Pirelli knows quite well were the tire is under the most stress and designed this tire with a full one third of each side (Which is more than twice as much as michelin) with the sticky stuff.

Great video, which commented by the record holder Helmuth Dahne :bowdown: I'm making a trip to the Nurburgring for a week in the beginning May since a couple of years.

Yes the Nurburgring is a fantastic playground. I've been there three years in a row. The first two years was in an arrangement that is done by the German Magazine Motorrad (Action Team), and this summer during public days, which is cheaper, and more existing :D

7500 miles out of the PP2ct? wow... I can promise you wont get that out of the Corsa3.. maybe 5k if you are really easy on them but more like 3000 if you ride very hard..
