The Gen I and II are completely different when it comes to lighting. No doubt the HIDs are an improvement, I just don't see the need for the Gen II. But that's me.

So far I have sheilded the balist with computer card static bag and wraped it in alumuiun foil also have used a wire from the foil to ground,
This is on the theory that their is static electricity being generated by air flowing through a plastic tube and the balist is the catalist or magafies it
Sounded good in the shop
So far does not work did seen to stop the temp and fuel guage from going crazy Speedo is in a world of its on
Any words of wisdom

Folks first post on here so i'll say howdy, have my busa a few weeks now and i completed the hid mod on thursday, i've placed a inline switch on the hot wire for the hid, i've experienced the same as described here the fuel and temp gauges goin nuts when the hid is powered up, has anyone any clue whats causing this

Well cleaned up the install today and moved all wires from the hid away from the back of the gauges, problem seems to have gone away i'm guessing current running through the wires was causing interference to the gauges

That was going to be my suggestion... There is such high voltage going through the wires from the ballast to the bulb, that it's possible that it's generating some EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) that is enough to mess with the gauges.

Shielding the ballast is a start, but I would also shield the wires...at least move them as far away from the gauges as possible.
