Hey Ladies/Gents,

Can anyone give me a few tips on how to change spark plugs. I got as far as the airbox and looseing the screws on either side of the box however the airbox wouldnt come off. Any pointers?

Make sure you unhook the sensors and hoses. It takes a little effort to get the airbox off the throttlebodies. Just take your time. Make sure used use some compressed air and blow out from around plugs before you remove them. Just to be sure there is nothing to fall into motor. Do not over tighten new plugs! Remember the threads in the block are aluminum.

I hear guy change plugs @ 10,15,20,000 miles. I'm confused on why, I change my corrola plugs at 80,000 and the old ones looked fine. Let's face it, 80% of the time this big bore bike is not working hard, actually compare to a screaming 600cc, the Hayabusa in general use has a pretty easy life. For those of you who did tax out this monster constantly, your on the track or you dam lucky your not in jail with all the popos around. So back to the topic, you guys changing plugs at that low of a millage how are they (the plugs) looking? If the plugs are cooked don't you think there's something wrong with the bike?

I wiggled mine back and forth while pulling up on the airbox. I forget which one the '06 or '08 but one of them it came right off and went right back on, the other one took a little work.

Hey Guys,

Thanks, I was able to get the box off just a wiggle here and a lift there. Afterwards it was a go, all four changed in a matter of minutes. Brakes done. Oil change done. Fresh set of tires done. Checked idle done. Any pointers on changing the coolant. Ive looked it seems pretty easy

Depends on the plugs you use, and alot of other things. Stock genI plugs are copper.

Rough estimate of plug life
Copper - 10,000 miles
Platinum - 60,000 miles
Iridium - 100,000 miles

atleast thats what I've been taught

there is a screw in the middle front dwon under the top clamp. Then kinda pull on each side pulling one side then the other. It should break loose pretty easy

Solid advice a little bit of sand an dirt into the engine or a stripped thread may ruin your day maybe a few weeks an months too:beerchug:
