PMRA Overview:
FUNNYBIKE: The Funnybike class is the King of the sport. These Monsters are turbo charged with multiple stages
of nitrous oxide. Kawasaki's and Suzuki's along with nitromethane burning Harley Davidson's. Man and machine blast
to the finish line reaching 6 second E.T.'s at over 200m.p.h. in the ¼ mile. NO roll
cages, NO seatbelts, NO sissy's. This is the real NO FEAR, or as they say in the
Bible belt"¦"¦Fear Not!!
TOPGAS: This is the fastest of the "Index" classes, all motorcycles in this class
run on an 8.20 index. Both motorcycles start at the same time and the one that gets
to the finish line first without going faster than 8.200 wins. These motorcycles run
a variety of engine combinations, gasoline only, nitrous oxide injected or
turbocharged. Index racers along with Funnybike racers run on a Pro tree, three
yellow lights flash at the same time and then the green flashes to signal the start of
the race.
SUPER COMP: The 8.90 index class is the same format as TopGas except the
riders are aiming for the 8.900 E.T.. Index racing is a real "tuners" class where
the rider/mechanic must adjust for weather and track conditions to run as close
to 8.900 without miscalculating and going to quick which is known as a "break
out", or running to slow and being beat by the opponent.
SUPERGAS: The third index class running on the 9.90 index. This is arguably
the toughest class to win. Without excessive power from nitrous and
turbochargers Supergas bikes are usually the closest races, many being won by
thousandths of a second. All index class racers must cut near perfect reaction
times to win. The reaction time is calculated from when the Christmas tree turns green until the front wheel moves out
of the starting beams. The E.T. only begins when the starting beam has been broken. Even if a racer is closer to the
index he/she can still lose with a slower reaction time since the winner is determined by the combined time of the E.T.
and reaction time. First one to the finish line without "breaking out" wins.
STREETBIKESHOOTOUT: This is a heads up quickest bike to the finish
line wins class. Bikes must run a Dot approved tire, head and tail light,
charging system, and have no longer than a 68" wheelbase. Turbos and
Nitrous oxide allowed. These are completely insane low 8 second bikes
running over 175 mph.
PRO E.T.: This is Bracket racing or handicap racing. The same principles
apply except riders can select the E.T. they want to run. The slower bike will
leave the starting line first and both riders will meet right before the finish
line. The E.T. racers also run on a Full tree (5 tenths), the difference from the
Pro tree is that all three yellow lights come down individually ½ a second a part and then the green light.
STREET E.T.: This is the class for the entry- level racer as well as
the "Kings" of street racing. Street E.T. runs on the same format as
Pro E.T. except no slicks and no wheelie bars.
9.50 SUPERBIKE: This is a new class for 2007, street legal bikes with a 9.50 index,
run on a pro-tree, all-run field. A class designed for hot street bikes, a challenging class
for good riders.
