Polishing stock exhaust cans

Three hours later, I've got one finished..

I used a palm sander with 180 grit to sand the grooves down, then hand sanded with 220, and 400. Finished it with an 8" buffing wheel and aluminum polish (Eagle One). More work than I expected, but the results are good, the buffing wheel is a must....

Hey Frank,
Reading your threads on the frame polishing gave me the idea and general procedure on the cans. I'm sure I'll do more, just one piece at a time.... I'm thinking swingarm may be next on the list. There are alot of stock aluminum goodies to shine....

The second look seat and tank skins were about $130.

I think this polishing falls into the "Too much work to do for money, but well worth the effort on your own bike" category. It probably took me closer to 4-5 hours per can, it's all in the details. You can really get a mirror like shine with enough effort.

Nice.....although I like the brushed look,
it's the headers leading to the pipe I'd
like to chrome. I hate that Suzuki black paint, it chips and scratches easily. anyone done this?????
