Interesting item on page 25 of Dec Motorcyclist. An H was allowed to participate in a Nevada public road racing event (police sanctioned) called Poney Express II. The event is for cars but they let the H do a special exhibition run.

The cars run an 84 mile course but the H ran a shortened 30 mile course over which it averaged 184.3 mph. The fastest cars averaged over 200 mph, on the 84 mile course.

The bike only caught one of four radar traps and was clocked at 179.6 mph. Only 5 cars had a better speed at this particular trap.

For some interesting reading about the event go to www.openroadracing.com

I exchanged an e-mail with the fellow who runs the openroadracing web site He was very impressed with the Hayabusa.

The standard 84 mile course has four radar traps placed at strategic positions (not necessarily top speed parts of the course). The Hayabusa ran the last thirty miles of the standard course (at an average speed of 184 mph) which contained one of the four traps.

They will try to get more motorcycle action into the next events.

This must have been quite a show.
