So I was taking a close look at my airbox the other day(future mods), and I noticed that there was a disconected wire hanging around behind the head. It was a single wire, green with a yellow stripe, single connector that mated up perfectly with another like wire. Now last time I was under there I was replacing a coolant hose and didn't notice anything out of place, but since then the bike has seen a service shop.

I re-connected the wire and turned the ignition on, when I did the oil light came on and never went back off, didn't crank it though. I disconnected it and the bike runs fine, I know suzuki isn't in the habit of running wires and then not connecting them, and I know from my job that if someone can't diagnose a problem they will sometimes disconnect the sensor that says something is wrong. so before i go rip my service department a new one, does anyone know what could have happened. The wire connection was solid when I put it together so I don't think it rattled apart. The bike doen't drip oil and I just replaced it a week ago.

Any suggestions?

If you don't crank the bike, the oil light will not go off. The wire you have disconnected leads to the oil pressure sensor.

Think about it; if there is no oil pressure due to an engine NOT running, the sensor will read and display that no pressure exists.

HOOK THE WIRE UP.

The oil light will always come on when you turn the ignition on and the engine isn't running. There are several Green/Yellow wires on the bike, but from your description it sounds like the wire that goes to the oil pressure switch.
