power commander questions Gen II

I have installed the Vance and Hines 4 into 2 header in conjunction with the Yoshimura R77 slip-ons. I have only ridden for about 100 miles locally with the new set-up.

I am considering whether or not to go with a DynoJet Power Commander 3 USB.

My question/dilemna goes like this.
I use the bike locally ( close to sea level) and I like to do tours in the summer so I am at all kinds of altitude levels from 0 feet to 6000 feet or higher. If I get a local dyno tune at sea level I imagine the bike will not run well at higher elevations . Can I keep the stock Oxygen sensor hooked up with the PCIII in the system? If so will it still work properly at all elevation levels? Or do I have to disconnect the oxygen sensor for the PCIII to be properly set up? How are the touring guys getting around this problem? Or is it only in my head?

Any help or hints and experiences is most welcome. Thanks, Ziggy

PC III does not replace the O2 only the V does to my knowledge. As far as the elevation change I have known guys here where I live (sea level) take their tuned bikes to the Gap with no problems.

your bike has a barometric pressure sensor to adjust for altitude changes,if it were me I would leave the O2 sensor on for part throttle closed loop fueling and see what you think. If you are interested in ecu control would be more than happy to discuss with you the pro and cons of each system etc. ECU Flashing

Thanks for the comments and suggestions so far. I appreciate the offer for further discussion and might take you up on it. However I am on the west coast so it would be that dreaded "free advice" that I would be soaking up and wasting any of our East Coast suppliers and sponsors precious time.

cheers,

from what little I know, the PCIII has an in the box connector that can be used to connect the stock O2 sensor to. I imagine it fakes out the stock system so that the FI light does not come on. It is that function/option that has me wondering

Smith,

I am interested in the ECU flashing, however correct me if I am wrong, but there are no real "canned" maps for your system are there?

Like the Bazzaz you can buy the add on that will do an auto tune per say. Let me know, I could be mistaken.

There are some maps available whats your setup? Im not much of an autotune believer myself.

Pretty much stock, going to have a full 4-2-1 system and BMC or K&N filter. Also, can you take a shot of the stock map and save it in case you ever wanted to go back?

Thanks Smith for answering.

With that system you certainly need a tune. Chattanooga Busa almost lost a piston from detonation.

AUTOTUNE = Magic box = Plug n :please:  ............
I think if you rub it a little Genie jumps out also
Sorry but also a very non believer of Autotune and also the "Free" downloaded maps as each bike should be individually mapped being that no two bikes are identical. Just my 10 cents worth.
Spend 20K on a bike and another 10K on bling then spend a few bucks on set up as the rewards are great.
