Hey guys and gals,

Just wanted to put in a request.

Tomorrow my mother is having gastric bypass surgery. She is 5'9" and 467 1/2lbs. She will be in ICU for 5-6 days and on a ventilator the first 2-3 days of that. Heaven forbid something goes wrong. If it does I will be headed to Houston as fast as I can get there.

I am sorry that your mother is having surgery but this can ultimately improve her quality of life (to look on the bright side)... I wish her all the best and my thoughts are with her (and you) during this ...

Please let me know if there is anything that I can do.
 
Don Prayers Sent for your mom. I will tell you this from personal experience with the gastric bypass surgery she will be much better in the long run if she does what the Doctors tell her to and stays on the strict diet that they set up for her. Also what kind of bypass is she getting if you don't mind me asking?

I am not exactly sure what type it is. I know that it is not the lap band one. It is the normal one. Because of her size they cannot do it arthoscopically. They have to open her up. The arthoscopic surgery is 4 hours. She can't be out that long. The surgery they are doing is supposed to only run about an hour.

And yes, it's best if she follows the diet ALL THE TIME. It works, but she'll need to change her eating habits too.
