Proposed new section to this board

Rev, sorry to read about Randy. Seemed like a funny, cool guy.

Maybe it's time we have a section (like next to "General Bike Related", "Random Thoughts", etc...) dedicated to the fallen pilots, regardless of whether they're members of this board or even rode busas or not, even for those that some of the members knew personally.

A place to post pictures of the fallen pilots. A discussion of the sad incident that lead to their time. A place to talk about who they were, what they were like, what and who they loved and left behind. A place to discuss funny tales about them to show the lives they've loved, enjoyed, and lived before taking that final ride from this world to the eternal sun.

It might also be good for those that were close friends and families to come to find solice and counsel. A place to cry, vent, and hopefully helpful in being about to smile again.

Sort of a Memorial on the internet.

Just a thought.

Sounds like a good idea to me, we will just have to resist the "Should've been wearing a helmet; shouldn't have been stunting in traffic" comments.

I'm with you Shawn. It sounds like a great idea. I do believe those comments won't exist. There will be posts there from us about friends and family that have been lost. Normally that should not have been stunting or should had have had a bucket come from news paper or net articles.

You hit it right on the head MC.  Snide comments would turn that section into a disaster.  Should be a place of honor, not bashing...
both good thoughts and I agree.

When you lose someone dear to you the memories of that person will always be with you. One just learns to live with the passing and remembers the times together.

I feel it should be left to pass. Just my thoughts. Thank you.

hogger...

yes, shouldn't be a place of critizing, or judging. I trust the admin would/should keep an eye out for it and it remove anything that is overtly disrepectful.

I just bought this up because it strikes me a bit odd (and unintentionally disrespectful) to see a tragic death posting on the board in the General Bike section next to other postings about group buys on the next helmet/gadget, "should I get this bike/muffler", etc... postings.

not to sound rash but isnt that part of what posting about friends / family going down / dieing is about? To learn from others mistakes?? Like i said, dont get me wrong i think its terrible to lose anyone, especially a friend or family member. But when you do wheelies on public roads you increase the cagers ability to not see you. If your headlight is pointing up in the air when it should be pointing straight ahead, you increase your chances of getting hit. Am i wrong? Wheelies are ment for country roads or empty parking lots... not the public roads. Am i out of line here?

And one more thing... i'm not saying that everyone that goes down is to blame all on their own. It obviously takes 2 people to have an accident such as a cage turning left infront of a bike...

I don't think your out of line, however, I think if they create a section for "Fallen Riders" it shouldn't be a critique area. That is what happens in Random Thoughts. Drunk driving classes are great to prevent incidents, wouldn't be appropriate to hold them in a cemetary over a gravesite. Think the new section, if created, would be a place of "Positive Energy" so to speak, not a soap box or lecture circuit, that can be saved for other areas. Good looking out though brother, know where your coming from...

I'm with you guys 100%. Been thinking about that idea for awhile myself. Needs to be respectful though.

Thanks... i was hoping that didnt come out the wrong way. I too believe that if this section was created that it wouldnt be a place to "flame" people for their mistakes. It reminds me of the reason the Patriot Guard riders do what they do... to drowned out the sound of protesters at a military members funeral. My blood boils at the thought of people even thinking that a funeral is a place to protest.

wow..the oppportunity to immortalize someone by extending the wealth of your freindships and personal relationships with that idividual to beyond thier immediate family and freinds and locale....or...to shame someone at a time of loss with indiffrent comments and observations...my 2c....too much chance to disshonor someone no matter how many you honor the pain of just "one" bad comment will shame us all

Some boards have a tab that when you start a thread you have the option of NOT allowing others to reply. The mods can implicate such a tab here and there will be no opportunity for anyone to spoil the post.

Afterall, lets be honest ... most of the replies will be, "RIP", "Sorry to hear about your loss", "
sad.gif
", "
down.gif
", and "I'll pray for ____ ". So why not just let the poster get his/her feelings off of their chest and the rest of us can use those posts as reminders that everytime we get on our bikes the only thing more important than reaching our destination is making it back home.

I'll go with having a post between a jokes and other stuff...it should be in some place allby itself...so, members or his family can visit and see all his post and riding pics...etc.
its good idea...I think...
