Questions about tre

I did the search, got 11,000 pages. I dont have that kind of time.

-Can the TRE cause any reliability problems?

-is it just for top end, or do you really notice more power bottom end?

-is there a certain one to buy or shy away from?

What's a TRE?

Sorry, couldn't help myself

they dont add any power on the bottom end but they smooth out the throttle response on take off and when cruzing at low speeds.

I know the 'rough' explanation of it, but was wondering if anyone had experienced any nagative results from using one. I am unfamiliar of any aftermarket add on that doenst shorten the life of an engine, thought maybe this would be the exception?

I am very happy with the bike, or I would have something else.

oh yeah- does EVERYONE on here have one? The sig lines seem to point that way.
I thought of aftermarket exhaust a few times, but I would only want them for the look, I like carbon, and I like my quiet bike.

I am a sledder, theres not a lot anyone can tell me about sleds, including supercharged 4 strokes. Modding bikes is fairly new to me, I have never had a bike really worth modding before, the rest were kanatunas, etc.

best arguement I have heard so far- UNLESS YOU ARE PLANNING ON GOING NORTH OF 186, TRE IS WORTHLESS'

nuff said.

Suzuki's late model fuel injected sportbikes have electronic circuitry which retards the ignition timing in the first four gears . TRE unit will increase the throttle response in the lower gears and will eliminate the hesitation / stumble, when you get off then back on the throttle . The TRE also eliminates the top speed limiter .

I've got the "smart" TRE. It's smart because it allows you to select which gear you want to use.

It does help with the low RPM stutter and it's a noticeable improvement.

I didn't notice any reliability issues at all. That said, I'll be removing mine since I had the stock ECU mapped. It is another point of failure to troubleshoot in the event of problems. The one I have has a failure mode where if it does fail, it behaves as it's not connected. Something to think about.

The only one I would stay away from is Ivan's. The reason being is that he was a complete ass when I talked to him about TREs. Be an ass, and I don't give you business.

Anyway, good luck.

A TRE is the equivalent to those "add 30 HP mod chips" that scammers sell on ebay. It's nothing but a 2¢ resistor placed in a fancy package and sold with a lot of hype.
Instead of your ECU giving you a separate map for each gear, you're stuck with the 5th gear map for all gears. Engineers at Suzuki designed and fine tuned each map for maximum performance and with a TRE you've just thrown all that away. You'll be able to pass 186 mph, but the bike will run crappy ¼ mile times...what do you do more on the streets/track, accelerate or run around at 190+ mph?

As far as first gear stumble...my '04 has never suffered from that and I've never read any test review complain of it either (even on the old pre '03 16 bit ECU). If my Busa started stumbling in 1st, I'd find out what's wrong and fix the problem.

If you want to exceed 186 mph, do it the right way and buy a modified gear position sensor from Johnny Cheese.

Mine has never stumbled at all, and I remember reading that the 03 and up benefit the most from it, my 02 is great as is. Its not broken, you know the rest.

i installed a smart tre yesterday. it improved the low end jitters. lovin it a cheep mod, some would say worthless but i have a lot more expencive stuff i don`t use. just my 2.5cents

my 05 came with it alreadu intalle dit seems to work fine. i have not ridden a busa without one though.
