Quick Question, Is this normal

Ok, Been enjoying my new Busa for about three weeks, Is it normal for everyone to want to race you on these? At stop lights, on the highway, anywhere, in any type of vehicle, minivans, cars, SUVs, other bikes. I was riding down the highway yesterday doing a nice and eay 70-75, and this Porsche Boxster tears past me at easliy 100+, I was in no mood to give chase, but I was just wondering if this is a normal reaction when riding a Busa.

Yep...I think it's normal!

I had some little ricer chasing me down yesterday on my way home from work...the road we were on has been heavily monitoried by cops, so I didn't even try to egg him on. Whenever he'd pass me and get 1/4 mile ahead, he'd start slowing again until he was almost next to me, then take off again...

I imagine he went home to tell everyone how he beat a Busa!

I'll let him live in that little world...

I have had the opposite experience on my busa. Nobody wants to race me. There's a couple of guys with 12s and they want no part of me. I caveat this by saying the guys with the 12s that I know aren't really into racing. I myself, suck at the 1/4 and would prolly be embarrassed by any decent rider.

Most people do want me to wheelie the bike though. I am the King of the 3 second Wheelie, so I oblige them every once in awhile!

I had a Porsche 930 follow me for a while and then decide I wasn't going fast enough and moved in front. I let him sit there for a couple of minutes and then gave it a 1/4 turn of the throttle and didn't see him anymore. I wish I had shifted into 6th gear!

Same thing with me. Nobody wants to race. There was only one time at midnight when a supposed Twin Turbo Mustang wanted to race. But it was dark, couldn't see through the dark tint of double bubble, and the idiot wanted to race through the city. Too many factors and I didn't want to take the chance.

Same here ... no real challenges, my best run was against another Busa. Most bikes and cars recognize the Kanji when they get close enough to challenge and they immediately back off ... last month I had to teach a vette and a wrx a quick lesson, wasn't even close.

I had a WRX try it one evening on a nice hwy around here......I was moving on about 120 and this guy just started moving on up, so I figured, what the heck, go ahead....moved over and then the guy just stayed beside me, so I figured well straight road, still pretty light out and no traffic, what the heck

I twisted my wrist and he stomped it....never saw him after that

Most of the time no one even attempts to have anything to do with me. most people give me a wide berth.

However on the way back from Laguna Seca, I was cruising on this nice road that has long sweepers, I was hitting the sweepers about...... well fast

I then would slow down until the next sweeper and speed up.

I finally decided to chill for awhile, and out of no where this bike passed me in my lane on the left doing about 140+. I did a quick look around to check out my environment then gave chase.

This guy was doing some real crazy stuff, going in between cars in an excess of 140mph trying to get away.

I caught up to him and blew by him. I am not sure what kind of bike he was on, I was more worried about my MP3 player. I had it on the front of my chest and the darn thing blew off.

Some how or another when it blew off, it landed on my forearm (I was tucked and my arms were tucked in next to the tank) anyway, here I am doing.. well real fast, and my MP3 player is pinned between my forearm and my tank and I am thinking about how I am going to slow down, control the bike and not lose my MP3 player.

Almost made it.. Now I am in the market for a new MP3 player.

Anyway, I gave the guy a thumbs up, he game me a thumbs up and he pulled away as I wa trying to fumble with my MP3 player.

Moral to the story, street racing never pays, you always lose something

nobody wants to race me
i had couple experience but that is it.

I usually try to race faster cars when i'm in my car not because i think i can neat them, but just to see them going fast and hearing the sound of their engine at full trottle.

mostly carrera's want to spar with me... i give 'em a run, leaving them in my dust.. then i let 'em go.. sometimes you have to throw people a 'bone', dig?!

had it all the time up in Nc, the ricer crowd out there just doesn't realize how slow their cars really are. Since I've moved to P-Cola I have only had a couple of bikes try. Most people around here already know about the power of the busa and just smile as I pass them.

this my 1st year with a 'busa, before that a zx12r, and the one thing that i've learned is that a lot of people are just looking for a show.....i usually ignore most or all foolish challenges, i figure that when they start making my bike and insurance payments then they can have a front row seat, in the mean time i prefer to be left alone.

but god help the clown that really pushes, as i will not only leave him, but will leave him to where he can't even find me again. let 'em wonder and worry, with a 'busa you dominate with authority.

Ditto!!
Ride safe...

3 races.

1st race - A GSX-R 1000.  The rider was much better than me and dusted me - with a wheelie on top of that.

2nd race - An R1.  I nosed him out.

3rd race -  A souped up truck.  Now this was a nice slow pitch I was waiting for.  Several lights in a row.  First light, easily nosed him out - could have blown him away but was just playing.  As we pull up to the 2nd light, he's pissed.  He actually shouts some profanity at me.  We go again... at first, I let him keep up, even nose me out for a while.  Then, I roll it on and leave him in the dust clearly letting him know his machine was not even in the busa's class. Now that was fun!
