Busa, Busa, Busa!

Without knowing what you want to ride it for (commuting?  Long rides?  Strightline drag racing?  road race track days?), it's kinda hard to answer the question knowledgeably or accurately.

The Busa definitely has the win in top speed honors, but also weighs over 100 lbs more.  Is that going to be an issue for you?

Acceleration wise, honestly I dunno.  Fairly similar in straightlines at the beginning, but the Busa will pull away.  But in twisties, some will argue the R1 has it beat due to its flickability.  Is that an issue for you?

There's too many variables for each individual rider to just be able to say Bike X is better than Bike Y.

<span style='font-size:7pt;line-height:100%'>(But naturally, the Busa is better.)

From what I gather, in expert hands the R1 will beat the Busa in the quarter mile , however the Busa is still the top speed king.

In an average motorcyclist's hands the Busa is probably faster in the quareter mile and for top speed.

Trolling, Trolling, Trolling... keep those posers rolling, Squidguy!!

Wait, and you are asking these questions on a Hayabusa board. Hmmmmmmmmmmm don't you think you will only get true answers here with out any emotion. what let me answer it, The R-1 crap feels like you are riding a wooden horse with a pipe up your butt, but this makes you feel like you are going a lot faster then you really are.

Which R1 and which expert? Mybe if Ricky Gadson or Ryan Schnitz was on the R1 and I was on my Busa.... Seriously, I don't think the R1 has enough power and is too hard to launch. I don't think there's a faster stock bike in the 1/4. I could be wrong, and I know the ZX-12 is real close, but I think thats it.

Well I am going by Sports Rider 1/4 mile testing..are they that inaccurate?

The newer GSX-R1000, R1 , 10R all have low 9s in the quarter mile according to their testing...

Furthermore I have seen a video of a 10R running quarter miles....all were in the low 9s, I cannot seem to find it now but I will
keep looking.

One thing though...those liter bikes are about as fast as they will ever be , none of them have the tweakability of the Busa.

No liter bike has run in the 9's or been tested the same day as a BUSA...period (Until the next issue of Cycle World with Ricky Gadsen riding them all that is.)!

As far as your video of the ZX-10 running low 9's!  That isn't even close to a stock bike.  That is a 1000/SS spec bike which means cleaned up head, raised compression, added weight, etc. etc.....

A BUSA with the same tricks runs in the 8's!

I followed your link, I stand corrected. I guess literbikes have caught up, even passed us. Still, like you said they are tuned within about an inch of their lives, there's not much more you can get out of them without a major expenditure.

Does it really matter?

Either bike will go faster than a person should go on the streets.

If you plan on taking either bike to the drag strip you are going to mod it anyway, so stock numbers really don’t matter.

If you plan on getting serious about track riding then neither bike is what you want anyway because good track bikes are usually in the 600 range or less.

So as far as which bike is faster.. doesn’t matter. Get which bike looks better to you or is more comfortable

I just looked at the link you provided. Please point out one single bike on that entire page that has run "low 9's".

Actually what liter bikes are running better than 9.8's stock or mid 9's with nothing more than being lowered?

Yes you are correct. No stock bike has beat the time a stock busa has laid down. Like you said those vids of the zx-10r's running low 9's are 1000ss bikes and they have every little trick in the book on them ( like 80lbs. on the front, which acts just like an extended swingarm to keep the front down).
