What mods have you done to your bike or is it stock

If your bike is stock motored you don't want high octain race gas it will only slow you down. You need to run an oxigenated fuel such as VP-U4 or VP-MR9 to make more HP.

My bike is a 2005 busa with the airbox mod, tre, art pro race exhaust, and a pc3usb,and a k&n filter,Where can these fuels be purchased at.??..like I said previously..I dont want to run pure race fuel..I figure if I do 2 gallons of at least 110 octane rating and blend it with 3 gallons of 93 octane it will give me an octane rating of 101.9 and that wil be a truer octane rating than using like 104 fuel additive,or any other supposed octane inhancer.....plus as I said.....I like the smell....Where do yall get your gas from.??...We have a station here that sells 100 octane race gas, I think its a citgo....its like $5.00 a gallon.....is that too much...??...and what would you all ex-ect to have to pay for high quality gas.??

You might check your local race shops...I get VP here for $4.50 a gal...I only need to run one gal per tank for the best performance more than that and it's a waste...

I always thought octane boosters work... I mean, I know quite a few guys running R1's and Fireblades here, who are using Octane booster. We get only 91 octane fuel here in India, and the Bikes recomend 95 Minimum... so these guys use OWS boosters! Never heard of them having a problem with that

For the mods done to your bike you do not need higher octain gas and it will slow your bike down. Call VP and ask them what you should run and they will tell you an oxigenated fuel such as U4 or MR9. I run 87 in my bike and it runs better on it then what it did on 93 and I also have a BDE Hindle, PCIIIR, Box mod, ect.

5 bucks a gallon is high, you can go to the tracks or performance dealers and buy 1rst quality race fuel for that! Just about anything Sunoco or VP makes can be bought for that or less. Some people think running the high octane is not good for a basically stock busa, Ive got a full exhaust with a PC3 and run C16 VP. The dang thing runs cleaner and better than on normal gas period.Maybe its the map or something else, but it runs better on race fuel.NJ.

Race gas is a waste of money, your bike was designed to run on 87. Even with the mods you have done anything more than 91 and your bike will actually make less HP than if you were to run 87-91 octane.

Isn't there a trade off when you run oxygenated fuel? I know that ethonol for example is harder on engines (such as drying out gaskets and retaining more water in the fuel from the alcohol), and ethonol in particular is less efficient. (as a matter of fact it takes more energy to make the fuel than gasoline)

I know there is many types of oxygenated fuels, and frankly other that the oxygenated pump gas we have to by in MN, I've not really eperemented.

There is a huge debate here because the state wants to raise the mandation from 10% to 20% ethonol in pump gas.

Luckily there is a provision for older vehicles and some station do have non-ox fuels, I usuallly try to frequent them with my bikes.

How do you figure that? My bike calls for a min 91 octane, not 87.

Also if you think that tank actually contains pure 91 we are kidding ourselves. (My Uncle is a truck driver)

So that super 93 may only be 91(if we're lucky).

its not the octane its the oxygen you want- if you're racing on the circuit ask other racers-if you're not racing you don't need it--

Do you have the ultra rare limted edition high compression Busa that requires 91 octane or do you possibly not know the difference between 87 pump rating and 91 RON?

Without increased compression or a turbo, a Busa has no use for more than 87 octane. All you'll do is lose power and carbon up the engine over time.

I'll chime in. Higher octane is used only to keep higher compression engines from detonating. The higher the octane, the slower it burns. I've always run 93 pump gas and would hesitate to run 87, although it probably wouldn't hurt things. Unless your have raised the compression ratio, higher octane will only reduce your HP. I've heard good things about VP4. It's oxygenated, and that is a good thing. That's the way to get more power from a fuel. I'm going to try some VP4 on the dyno and I'll let you know what I gain (if anything). It goes for about $12 a gallon at the shop I use. Sounds like I'm getting ripped on the price.

You might want to read your owners manual a little more carefully....unless you've got some sort one of a kind Busa....its tuned for 87. The stock compression ratio is 11.0.....new 1 litre bikes which require 91, have a compression of 11.9-12.5....so why

would you think you need to waste your money on anything more than 87
