Radar detector cig liter mount

For mobility between my car and bikes I have 12v cig liter mounts to connect my V1 detector but for the new Busa, where could I mount one w/o handlebar interference? All the way at the top of the fairing panel on the upper right side? Any other way to connect to 12v w/o using a cig liter unit? A hole saw would cut a nice hole in the plastic and with a flush mount receptacle it would work but it would still stick out in the wind.

I don't understand your question, you say you have a cig unit for the car and to transfer to the bike. But then you say you don't want a cig mount attachment on your bike

? Are you asking how to hard wire it ?

I want the detector to be a quick connect and disconnect so it can be used on all my vehicles. I don't have to use a 12v socket and I don't want any interference or any ugly mounting job on the Busa. In my car I plug it into the cig liter socket. On my CBXs there are 12v cig liter sockets for connecting it. The only place I can see clearance for mounting a similar 12v socket is at the upper right corner of the black inner fairing panel but the unit from the V1 that plugs into the socket, even at that location would be sticking out in the air next to the windscreen. Can it, and would it be better to wire it differently and still keep the quick connect ability?

The best thing you could have for the application you want is an Escort Solo S-2. It runs on batteries so you can elliminate any wiring. I have one and it works great. It has auto off if it's not moved in 20 minutes and the batteries last quite a long time. It does have a plug in for a cord if you so desire.

If you are intent on using the detector you have, then my suggestion is to hard wire your busa with an electrical cord that's wired into your switch so when you turn the ignition on, the detector has power. Then you could just unplug the wire at the detector and use it in your car/truck etc. with a cigarette lighter plug. Very easy but you'll have to buy a cord for your busa. I have all four of my bikes hard wired so I don't have to have a detector for each bike. Escort sells them for $10 each. I'm sure they are about the same for your V1. Check with Radar Roy, I'm sure he will have what you need.

Just hang around here for a while, I don't use a radar detector but many do and will probably show you what they've got with pictures. I use to, but now I just use my GPS and forget the detector. It just cause me to get tired more by always being on the alert for the ALARM to go off, so I just cruise about 10 above and never have problems

. Of course 10 above out here means 75 to 85 mph
