Ram air fix

Have you felt any difference in a seat of your pants dyno? Does it pull harder or easier at high speeds? Great thought out mod. What else do you plan to do in the mod department?

Ok after reading the dismal numbers posted on Sport Riders ram air test and noticing the cheezy connection between the ram air tubes and the air box,I decided to fix it.I went to Home Depot and bought two 3inch rubber plumbing couplings complete with 2 hose clamps each.Clamp-All/No-Hub/sewer clamp.I removed the aluminium sleeve and the two hose clamps.I cut my airbox lip off were the little foam ring glues to the airbox.I then took the tube and slid it over my airbox inlet and ram-air duct..It was more like struggled and cursed...Then I hose clamped the tube to the air box and ram air tube(dependind on the amount of tubing sticking through the frame you might have to file the welds down alittle to get a surface for the clamp to grab to).the diameter of the airbox inlet is a little smaller than the ram air part so If you could find one say 3"x2.5" it would be perfect.Measure yours first I dont want anybody screaming at me...I couldnt. But now the sucker is air tight and should be getting force fed like it should be.The parts cost about 6 bucks but once you cut your box its cut.

Well unfortunatly the bike is put away for winter :(.So far I`ve just done the air box mod,the ram air fix, removed the pair valve and tubing,16tooth sprocket,Friction performance brake pads, changed my brake and clutch fluid to Valvoline syntec brake fluid(502) dry boiling point,Two Brothers slip-ons,Mobil1 10-40 motorcycle oil and Perf-Form sythetic media oil filter,Red-line water wetter,Yosh box +5+5+5,NGK CR9EK plugs(dual electrode),BMC air filter,Pro grip gel grips,Gen-mar risers,Z-Gravity double bubble wind screen,Corbin seat, factory tank bra,Hyper white head lamp bulbs(these babies look white just like HID lighting)they really make the bike stand out,50w halogen tail/brake lights.I also run Avon Azaro 35/36 on the bike and they have about 4k miles on them now and look good for another2-3k,Regaurdless how these tires faired in the magazine tests they grip really well especially in the rain,I have them worn to the edge and the only thing I noticed was the rain groves roll off little chunks when you go to the edges of the tire.I am going to try the Metzeler Mez 3 next time around just because there getting such good reviews here.I would really like to do the Lee`s performance stage 1 or stage 2 mods and a full exhaust with some dyno/pcII time to dial it all in,he seems to be on top of this thing and I`m leary about doing any big bore work or adding a turbo ,not that I wouldn`t mind all that horsepower :) but I`m just concerned about reliability and longevity ,my buddies and I do alot of long road trips.Next summer I`m going to take the MSF advanced course and would like to go to N.H. to do the racing school and get some track time in(Kawabuser interested?) I love my Black/grey Busa!I wouldn`t trade it for any bike....even if they do make one faster!
Also a couple good books out there you guys might wanna read is the "Twist of the wrist" series and "Soft Science" .I learned alot from these books and I`m always looking for more.

If you want some quality track time, take the school directed by Jason Pridmore. Check out www.starmotorcycle.com for track dates. The student to teacher ratio is very good and I prefer this school over the California Superbike or Suzuki schools. Have fun!

Sure Turbo ,Now you tell me :).I still am interested in the Web-cams and the Metzelers.I have to wait after Christmas though. And I might get the fender eliminator kit...

Ok took the bike out of storage ,couldn`t handle not riding anymore. It`s hard to tell if the Ram air thing did anything by it self because I did several small mods at once.I can say that the 16th,ram-air,Bmc,Ngk-cr9ek,Mobil1 motorcycle oil.pair removal do make a HUGH improvement together :).I power shifted into third at around 100-115 and the sucker came up :) :) :)!

Well Turbo besides my riding gear I think thats it till next year.If I dont get my bathroom/kitchen done my girlfriend is going to kill me,lol.Theres something about a screaming 90lb Italian broad that makes me nervous :).
