My 08 just started ratcheting in 1st gear when I launch the bike. Thought it may be the chain, so I replaced it. Still doin it. So I assume its either the transmission or the clutch basket??

Avyone had this issue before?

Try to tighten the chain abit tighter than you normally run it.

I've had chains stretch and jump a tooth.
Let us know if it helped.

It helped my in the past.

Just replaced the chain, its tight. I am familar with loose chain and skipping, this is different. Feel similar happend in 1st gear. I assumed it was the trans-shift dogs or forks but in first gear they shouldn"t come into play.

Will pull the clutch basket and check the basket springs tomorrow.

Coincinentally, I spoke with Bob Carpenter on Thursday about my transmission.
He said that the GENII Busas transmission is already back cut from the factory, so no need to send it out and cut it.
With that being said, it's "probably" not the transmission.
I was VERY suprised at how nice the clutch slips in my 09, as opposed to the first GEN Busas.

Let us know what ya find.

Yeah I found that out too when my bike was at KWS. I didn't know Gen IIs were back cut already:beerchug:

I have a friend who had the same issue...it was his stock front sprocket. It would ride fine until he hammered on it...
