Really want to know!!

I am tired of people telling me that a busa is not a quarter mile bike! They tell me it will never out run any 1000cc or larger sportbike in a quarter mile. It was only built for top speed. I just bought a 09 silver busa in mid summer, and i would really like this issue solved. What category does the busa really fall under, and is it a faster bike than these other liter bikes? I realize this is a busa forum so i really would like some honest feedback. Dont get me wrong i love my busa, this is my second one, but i am tired of hearing all this negative on the busa. Please help!!!

I have both a Busa and a Gixxer 1000. Now, I don't drag race, but I'll tell you the torque difference between the two is huge. My Busa has so much more torque that I think it overcomes the weight difference handily. Not even close.

They're half right. A Busa is not a quarter mile bike. It's more like the quarter mile bike. Commuta nailed it. Have you're friends ever actually been to a drag strip?

A Gixxer 1000, CBR or an R1 is NOT going to touch a Busa in the 1/4 mile given that a skilled rider is at the helm. The next closest bike would be a ZX14. I have seen several Busa's at the track in the 9s. There was one Busa owner at Kansas City International Raceway (KCIR) that would come and run in the mid-9s at 192 MPH.

thanks for the quick replys. i have seen a few busas at my local strip, they were only able to get into mid 10s. i live in okla, and that climate and riders may have prevented them from getting in 9s i dont know, but it is good to know that it is the quarter mile bike!!! are u saying that a stock 09 busa should run 9s or modified? i will say this i am a older rider mid 40s and these guys never do ask to race me!! thats does say something.

:welcome: to the org!

Is it that important to you to justify to your friends (who are wrong) what the Busa can or can't do in the 1/4 mile? If it is...take it to the track.

Otherwise like dadofthree said....don't let the haters get your panties in a bunch. Just enjoy your ride

Liter bikes usually have the advantage off the line due to being lighter, the Busa's torque will smoke a tire in a heartbeat in unskilled hands trying to get out of the hole. But once she gets rolling the Busa will reel 'em in.

my thing is i am not really a racer, i love the busa on the long trips, so me going to the track probably wont happen. but i do love the respect it does get in general. i am sure the bike would perform well if i twisted the throttle, i just dont have the guts to do that!!! to old and love my family to much!!!

Better have his speedometer checked.

I have watched a lot of pass time on speed vision and the busa has always turned out to be the top dog. When raced against 1000s the busa has always won. Just my observation from what I have seen on pass time.

so should my stock 09 run 9s? i read alot on the 09, and in all the test the 09 got in the 9s, but i personally have not seen this happen, mostly 10s-11s.

your bike will run 9's but its has to be in the hands of a very skilled rider
