Hey guys i need a new rear tire and im gonna get a shinko 003 but i was wondering if there would be a problem leaving the front alone as it only has 2400 miles on it and i dont ride twisties but every once in a while so its not like i need all the extra grip ican get

You should be fine. I've owned one Shinko and bought it because I didn't have a choice at the time, but most 1/4 milers use them religiously.

well i just mostly cruz around and i will be drag racing this year. Also i might put a 200/50/17 for that lil bit of extra traction. since i put the 43t on i cant keep the tire from breaking loose under hard acceleration

everyone seems to love the shinko, and theres no sense replacing your front tire as long as it still has tread and holds air.

I bought my 06 used last year, at the time it had a Shinko 009 on the rear and the Bridgestone BT56 on the front. I've had no problems with it at all. Granted I live in an area where there aren't many twisties unless I ride about an hour from home.

I'll be replacing it here in the next couple weeks and decided to go with the Bridgestone BT 016. If I don't notice much difference for my style of riding I will most likely go back to a Shinko as they have a very attractive price and it has served me well.

stay with the 190 the 200 wont give you any more traction, i have ran them both and the 200 is heavier.... I run shinko on both ends, make sure you get the ultra soft version and not just the stealth....

Which is the ultra soft version? The 009 is the one with the hardest compound if I understand them correctly, the 003 is the softest with the 005 is in between. Am I right on that or did I read wrong?

there are 2 versions of the 003 the stealth and the ultra soft stealth
about 5-12$ more per tire for the ultra soft stealth, and it is the softest tire shinko makes

Thanks for the info, I was not aware that they made two version of the 003. Good info to know in the future. :beerchug:

Sounds like you worked yourself out a good deal.

I actually ordered my tire through the dealer, they were sky high at first compared to what I could order it online for. I simply told them what I could get the exact same tire for online and that I didn't want to cut them out of business but would if they couldn't get in line with the price a little better. Needless to say they wanted my business and we negotiated a fair deal. It's going to cost me about 40 more but I maintain a good relationship with the dealer. The second reason is that my town has had a serious problem in keeping a dealer here, we went years without one so I don't mind throwing them a bone every once in awhile if it helps to keep them around.
