Well last week my cheap $10.00 ConAir Beard, mustache, hair trimmer broke when it fell on the floor. I needed a new one, so drove to the local Fleet Farm, and took a look at my options.
Well, after debating the options and prices of multiple units in Isle 97 of Fleet-Farm - I had to make a decision quick because the smell of bovine chemical were starting to burn my nose...So I laid down $40.00 for the Precision Titanium Mustache & Beard Trimmer made by Remington...notice it does not say Hair Trimmer.
After spending 15 minutes trying to pry the trimmer out of the bullet & bomb proof plastic container, I had in my hands the nicest, sleekist, most advanced trimmer I've laid my hands on...behold the beauty, it was almost a religious experience....ok...back to reality.
I plug the unit in the wall, and spend 6 hours doing chores around the house, while day dreaming of my first experience with the trimmer. Fast - Forward 6 hours....hit the on button, and wow...Power galore...this is the Hayabusa of mini- trimmers!
Ok, so I figgure I will start slow, and work on the mustache...trimmed real nice, but Im finding out the unit is a little more agressive than my old ConAir unit. Ok, work my way to the beard...no pulling hairs, very cool motor sound, and a built in Vaccum to catch trimmed hair...very nice.
Ok, well Im an efficent guy, so I've always used my trimmers to also shave my head...I take it down to a nice short stubble, and kill a few birds with 1 stone.
Trimmer seems to be working very well at trimming my hair...efficent, but hmm....something just aint right here...sorta looks like racing stripes in my head...Im starting to think maybe it was just some bad reflection in the mirror...as this could not be possible with my new Trimmer created by the Gods.
And I continue to trim the rest of my head. Some 15 minutes later I was not getting the results I was looking for...I had a head full of lines on my head. Sorta looked like Blonde Cornrows....definately not the look I was going for. My dog even cocked his head at me in disbelief and walked away, almost like he was ashamed to be associated with his owner.
Well, when all else fail, time to pull out the el~cheapo $.25 bic razor and the shaving cream. Now I havent went bald for awhile, so I forgot how big of a pain it was to do the bald thing...my head was bleeding in several spots and time to go to work was nearing ever sooner. To stop the bleeding I thought I would use a septic stic - some of us old guys use these for shaving, to stop bleeding of deep cuts. Warning...do not use these on your head...When I put the stic on the deepest of my multiple wounds, I thought I had just drove a firey ice pick into my scull, and honestly can say I think the neighbors heard my scream!
To sum up my experience, the Precision Titanium Mustache & Beard Trimmer is a great unit but not intended to shave your head. Im heading back to Fleet-Farm this morning to get me another el~cheapo ConAir unit to do that duty...and the Remington has not left its charging cradle sine my recent bad experience.
