I'm not sure if this has come up but I'm sure it has. What is the best way to remove the 186 restrictor/limiter on the Busa without using a TRE, Smart TRE, or ATRE? I've downloaded the Service Manual from this site so if there's a way to do it please lemme know? I'll post in the technical section as well. Peace out y'all...

What a TRE?

A GPS MODIFICATION FROM POWERHOUSE

POWERHOUSE now offers their gear position switch modification to all their Hayabusa and GSXR customers . . . Your GPS resides behind your clutch basket. It is removed, modified, and reinstalled. The result? Your bike now has all of its different timing maps RESTORED. In addition, your original speed restriction is REMOVED, and you can also remove your TRE. Now your bike idles correctly, it does not try to backfire when you first start it in the morning, and your speed limiter is disabled. And, you will go quicker in the quarter mile.

THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS . . .

Sorry to bump this thread but I have a question for JC. Ive been talking to several tuners regarding my soon to be turbo setup. I want the GPS done b/c there's no point in having turbo if I've got speed/rpm restrictions. Does the GPS mod keep the maps in gears 1-4 intact so that gears 5 and 6 are similar or are all the maps entirely different. I've been hearing this mod makes it similar to the '99 models. Thanx.

No. The other way around. JC does the GPS behind the clutch basket and DaveO does the ECM. The Gear Position Switch has its resistors modified so the ECM reads 6th gear in the same map as 5th. 5th gear has no speed/rpm restriction from what I understand. Doing the GPS doesn't mess with the ECM's computer. Dave "reflashes" or "hacks" the ECM but you still need to obtain a TRE. I don't want the TRE b/c of the overly aggressive nature in gears 1-4 will have especially with a TURBO SETUP (I plan on a Hahn Stage 1 Racecraft with 8-10 lbs boost on pump gas to start). Should produce anywhere from 230-300rwhp so I do want to retard the ignition maps in the lower gears until I get aquainted with the power.
