Removing CAT

I’m thinking of removing the cat that comes before the end cans I think in the mid pipe to reduce heat as I live in India ; I do not want to lose the low end performance as well . Any external modification is banned in India and we have trouble with cops ( they mostly dislike big bikes which are noisy and I’m not keen on that as well ). What internal mechanical modification is required to maintain the back pressure ? I saw it mentioned somewhere in our group but not able to find it . Thanks

Back pressure is preserved by exhaust pipe diameter as much as points of collection along the way. You will find in threads already posted that the factory tune per dyno results works equally well with the aftermarket exhaust as with the factory set up. If you decide to cut out the cat section and put a replacement segment, ebay or custom made, you'll notice very little. Now if you dyno tune the bike, after modification, you will pick up a bit of horsepower. If you leave the tune alone it will still run fine.

Hi , thanks , in your gen 3 when u apply the front brake do u also see in the sdms the back brake graph coming on ? Also when on paddock how freely should the rear wheel be ? I found a tinge of heaviness in mine . Thanks

Ummm......I don't notice or pay attention to back brake actuation. I am looking forward to installing my abs delete kit from greg@boostbysmith.com.

I have the Brembo rcs19 master and resevoir. I need the Galfer Gen II steel braided brake line kit, and a Brembo clutch. Then I'll do it all at once. I don't have beaucoup dollars right now so I'm still waiting for my brake master to start acting funny. Recall my butt.

As for the back wheel spin, have you cleaned and greased the chain recently ?. How many miles do you have on the stock chain ?. They stretch real easy. Check the stretch and adjustment per the owner's manual. Are you spinning it without the chain, or with ?. It's been my experience that those bearings are pretty durable. Bet it's the chain especially if you ride this bike like the rest of us.

If you manually use the rear it will come on, but not if you're only using the front as far as I can tell - When I go for a ride later I'll check it out again (but it's 42C/108F today!!!). And yea, my chain has heaviness too, like's there's a little resistance. I'll be checking the wheel bearing soon because at least one member on this site reported bearing failure on his low mileage Gen 3.

My bike has done 500 miles I lubed the chain yesterday first time but compared to ninja 1000 the wheel feels heavy to rotate by hand with the chain . I haven’t yet ridden the bike hard

It is heavier. When I had the wheels torn down for powdercoat it was something I noticed but the wheel was designed to hold the bike's weight 500 lbs. and a rider. Funny thing was they seemed discernibly heavier once the tires were installed.

Like it was mentioned, weight discounted, if you can't rotate the wheel easily or you feel binding have it checked by a reputable shop. Just for piece of mind. I've never had a wheel bearing on a Busa fail early but others have.

Yikes 42 c ! You must be in northern Australia , I thought only Indians face such harsh weather . Do u feel too much heat from engine in summer or is it about the same ?
Thanks
