I damaged my frame recently in a wreck. I want to replace the frame rather than submit an insurance claim. How hard is it and are there any threads discussing this? What about YOUTUBE videos?
well you basically are going to need a few expensive tools or the knowhow to make your own....the etire engine all the wiring the forks, the swing arm kickstand belly pan mount ect ect its alot to move..the swingarm and engin use specialty tools to remove and the forks may as well
i would think it wouldnt be to hard but very time consuming....you will def want a manual before you attempt it..or you could have it done like this---may wana mute the sound first
Vin for motorcycles is stamped on frame also. So be careful on getting a new one. Don't want to end up with a stolen one and get pulled over.
Unless you buy one from dealer(big $$) and have it stamped for your title, you might end up having to buy a used one with a good title and re register your Busa to that frame.
I've parted out a few busa's. It is pretty simple to make the custom tool to remove the frame cam-locks. Take a 27mm socket and grind down all but 4 prongs that fit in the cam-lock. $12 and 5 minutes of grinding later you have a $60 suzuki tool.
Nothing to difficult with re-assembly either. Just pay attention to where bolts and spacers go. I would recommend buying or downloading a manual.
Thank you all for the advice! I have been searching ebay for a frame with clear title and they range $1500 - $2000. I am asking for VIN # before I purchase so I can verify frame is clear. (non salvage or stolen)
