Two weeks ago when I replaced my rear tire (4th rear, 8385 miles on busa) I also changed my cush drive rubbers. This am was the first time I really had a chance to ride, the difference was amazing! Funny thing, the old rubbers didn't look that bad until I put the new one's in and realized how much wear there was....I had to lube (ky works great, won't harm rubber...lol) the splines, sprocket side, to get the hub assy back on! The drivetrain smoothness has been restored and there is no more "lash" when shifting. This is one of those "put the frog in cold water and gradually heat it up" type of things, the cush wear is so slow I didn't realize how sloppy the drivetrain had become. For $40, I am replacing them way more often now. Feels like a new bike. duh...
