Replacing Fuel Lines

I noticed the manual states that they should be replaced every 4 years. Is this absolutely necessary?
I'm going on 7 years with the stock lines.

Are there signs of wear to look for which would indicate that they actually need replacing?

Good question, I know guys who have been riding thier bikes for 10+ years and never changed em but there is probably somebody on here who had lines go bad in 5. Also says to replace rad hoses and stem bearings etc. but few people do it and continue to ride with no problems??? If you got the time and money I would say better to be safe than sorry

What manual are you using? If it is the one that everyone downloads, that is for the 99 and 2000 bikes.
Witch have the external fuel pump, these years do need to have the lines replace, because they collapse!

01 and up models do not need to be replaced!
